As ye probally know i have taken over Helifax Fire from a total muppet.. am trying to rebuild the team but not many players will even look at us due to winning one game this season... any pointers?

Start over from scratch. Hit the D-Leagues up and be honest with guys. Rebuilding team will not win for a couple of season, and just take your lumps. You can find guys that want to get in on the ground floor if you are honest with them. Do not waste your time going after LVL 20+ guys because the only ones of those that will sign will be the ones that want to be traded because of playing time or what ever.

Yeah, it is going to be REALLY tough at first. But stick with it. That is good advise above. Just be honest with people.

I agree with these guys, and these are two of the better owners I know in the game.
1. Be honest with people coming in the door
2. Build RIGHT. Don't get frustrated and decide to deviate from your goals.
3. Only sign guys with good BUILDS - Levels mean nothing without solid builds
4. Don't worry about winning. Worry more about getting better
5. I hate to say this, but I would probably simply ask the entire team who here wants to stay and be a part of the solution. Those that don't are part of the problem, and I would sell them off

If I took over a gutted team I would go for players at the very bottom of the totem pole, spend minimal cash on wages and bonuses for the first few years and use the saved money to invest heavily in the stadium. Setting the team up for life.

Halifax have some good talent. I would try to keep as many of your current players as possible and start working the trade forums. In the off season it will get much easier to get players also.

7. Never trade for a player you havent spoken with and seen the open build for.
8. Never offer players starting positions only playing time. Then you wont ever be in a situation that causes you to break your word
9. Keep your forums active.
10. Get lots of help, running a team is a massive job. OC,DC,Game Scouts,Player Scouts, Forum Mgr ect... the more you can focus on bringing in talent the quicker you will see results so give up some control to free up your time.

You will not lose more money as long as you sign at minimum wage. If your team was gutted first you better just plan on losing out the rest of the season. Recruit very hard during the offseason and hope it is enough to compete next season. It may take 2 offseasons to get yourself on your feet.
