It's the "Weekly" Wrap-Up for week 10 of season 4. It's been awhile, and there's been some great games since I last did one of these. My hat's off to the Bears for a good game this week, but I won't deny it felt good to make you eat those words from earlier in the season. (No matter how well-intended, "bulletin-board material" is always fun.) Without further ado, here's this week's games in Zeta:

Cedar Creek Wildcats 124 Gibraltar Wild Monkeys 0
Since last we saw the Wild Monkeys of Gibraltar there have been quite a few changes. Unfortunately none that would make for a better football team. They simply had no chance today on their road trip to Cedar Creek. The Wildcats rolled up over 500 yards rushing against the severely overmatched Monkeys. Big Boff led the attack, running for 236 yards and 8 touchdowns. Tailback Justin Forsett also took two Gibraltar punts all the way back for touchdowns. This 72 yard return came midway through the 3rd quarter and upped the Cedar Creek lead to 76 points.

Rockaway Knights 6 Helsinki Hammers 63
Rockaway has been sliding a bit, dropping 4 straight coming into this week. There luck wasn't likely to get any better with them hosting the undefeated Hammers. The Helsinki defense was disruptive, sacking Knights quarterback Golden Accuracy 3 times, and their offense simply bowled over the boys from Rockaway. The Hammers amassed over 600 yards of total offense in this game and exerted its will early. After back to back sacks prematurely ended the Knights' first possession, the Hammers came back with a 4 play drive that was capped off by this 30 yard rumble by Bo Miles. Miles would finish the game with 5 scores.

Eindhoven Breakers 59 Copenhagen Razorbacks 7
An improved Razorbacks team, coming into this week with a three game winning streak, hosted the most improved team in the league from last season, the Eindhoven Breakers. This was all Breakers from the start, with Eindhoven scoring 3 times in the opening period on their way to a 35-0 half time lead. Eindhoven receiver Matt Miles reeled in two touchdown catches in a little over 2 minutes to close the first quarter after Tyler Wilde had gotten them on the scoreboard first after breaking this run open for a 66 yard touchdown.

Ironton Tanks 59 Downey Vikings 3
Hosting the Vikings this week, Ironton looked poised to bounce back from two tough losses to Chelsea and Helsinki. They wouldn't disappoint their home crowd. After giving up 64 points and over 700 total yards in their last two contests, the Tanks defense returned to form with a downright stingy performance today. The Vikings barely broke 150 yards of total offense, and their only points came from a second half field goal when there was little doubt left in this one. Linebacker Randall Bazell was all over the field tallying 7 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and an interception. On offense "Hollywood" VinDeezy had a big game, reaching the endzone 5 times. This 61 yard sideline dash at the beginning of the second quarter opened up an early 14-0 lead.

Chelsea Cardinals 42 Brighton Bears 21
Brighton visited the undefeated Cardinals today, riding a four-game winning streak that included big wins over Ironton and Camelot, setting up this week's most anticipated Zeta conference match-up. Brighton wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. They took the opening kickoff and capped their opening drive with this 6 yard touchdown run by Ladainian Tomlinson21.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108896&pbp_id=5165047

However, Chelsea would answer back with a grueling 13 play drive that took nearly 7 minutes off the gameclock. Disco Dawson, who had earlier in the drive converted a 4th & 1, plowed ahead for 9 yards here to pick up a first down, setting up TJ Owens to plunge in from the goalline a few plays later.http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108896&pbp_id=5165247

A missed Brighton field goal and an interception led to two more Chelsea scores as they posted a 21-7 halftime lead. It would be all Chelsea in the 3rd quarter, where they outscored the Bears 21-0. Brighton quarterback Stanley Marsh was intercepted 3 times in the game, while Chelsea leaned on their running game. The Cardinals racked up nearly 400 yards rushing, while averaging 6 yards per carry. Dave Rosenbaum, perhaps the most unheralded player on Chelsea due to their power rushing attack, continued his error-free season by tossing 2 more touchdown passes and no interceptions. TJ Owens was the big stat man for the Cardinals, totaling 240 yards and 4 touchdowns. Owens took the first play in the second half for 80 yards, further widening the gap. Brighton would come up with two fourth quarter touchdowns, but by then had too much ground to make up.

Liege Red Roosters 23 Rome Bulls 63
Rome picked up their third straight win today over the host Red Roosters. In a game that wasn't in doubt beyond the first quarter, the Bulls rushers picked up nearly 500 yards on the ground. Uber Charge ran in 2 of his 7 touchdowns in the first quarter, this 35 yard rumble coming just over 10 minutes into the game.

Hamburg Parrots 14 Camelot Kings 21
The Kings got all they could handle when they visited the Parrots this week. After three quarters, Camelot found themselves down 14-0. With a few minutes remaining in regulation, the Kings were down by a touchdown, with their offense sputtering after 3 Colt Yang interceptions. However, Yang redeemed himself, finding his tight end, Action Pike in the endzone on this play to tie the game with less than two minutes to play.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108959&pbp_id=5168196

After a few, fruitless offensive series in overtime, it was Speed Pike with some late game heroics. He converted three third downs on the game-winning drive, the last time when he broke through linebacker Jack Jefferson's grasp to get into the endzone and give Camelot the victory.

Bay Area Invaders 7 Munich Maulers 86
Little has changed in the Bay Area. The Invaders are still bad. Munich came into town this week, quietly picking up their 7th win and placing them smack dab in the middle of the playoff hunt. The Maulers have a tough road the rest of the season, with the Cardinals, Tanks, Hammers, and Breakers still on their slate. They had no trouble today, as they coasted to a 79 point win. Outfor Blood threw for over 300 yards, completing passes to 10 different receivers. Meanwhile their backfield unit, comprised of Irons Jr., Lykhell, and Bunn ran for 9 touchdowns. The day's most impressive run was probably by free safety Jordan Jones after this interception.

Will come back with the Alpha games soon.

Malta Ospreys 21 Zurich Gnomes 31
Malta continues to struggle in its first season in A2, and the Gnomes put on a strong performance. The Gnomes visited the Ospreys this week trying to get back to .500. They did it with a potent running game and forcing turnovers with their defense. The Gnomes picked off Malta signal caller Charney Floogle twice, and their running backs ran for more than 200 yards on the ground on 45 carries. The Gnomes stretched their lead to 17 late in the fourth quarter with this pitch and run to John Carman IV.

Berlin Wall Crushers 94 Cherry Valley Wizards 37
The Wall Crushers follow up last week's impressive victory over Barcelona by drubbing the Alpha conference whipping boys from Cherry Valley. While the Wizards did manage their highest point total of the season with 37, they gave up 94 to Berlin and a ridiculous 601 yards rushing on only 46 carries (13.1 per rush). Berlin running backs Ty Ptak and Julius Peterson both eclipsed the 200 yard mark and combined for 30 broken tackles and 7 touchdowns. Ptak broke free for a 52 yard scamper on this play, in the opening moments of the second quarter to give the Wall Crushers an early 21-3 lead.

Ljublana Chamois Scabs 17 Madrid Hares 27
A marquee match-up in Alpha this week had the Hares visiting the Scabs. Ljublana's Richard Blais had a huge game hauling in 10 catches for 111 yards. However, the Hares would hold on to their lead late, with a 2 to 1 time of possession edge in the fourth quarter. All of the Madrid touchdowns came on the ground, the first was this 1 yard plunge by "Hitman" Hart in the opening quarter.

Judah Lions 38 Rotterdam Harbourmasters 13
With two more teams in the crowded Alpha race for the playoffs, Judah hosted Rotterdam and picked up their fourth straight win. The Lions defense sacked quarterback Silas Fox 3 times and held the Harbourmaster runners to 42 yards on the ground (1.5 ypc). Meanwhile, Lions quarterbacks Schneider and Kurono completed 24 of their 41 passes for 289 yards. Kurono's touchdown strike to "Blaze" Moss capped their first offensive series after Spence Urchin's interception gave them the ball near mid-field.

Barcelona Bulls 13 Liverpool Scousers 20
No shortage of big games in Alpha this week when the Scousers made the trip to Barcelona to face off with the Bulls. In a game where defenses dictated the pace, the teams combined to make 4 field goals. It was Bill Dauterive's second touchdown of the game that came near the beginning of the fourth quarter that proved to be enough.

Scotland Celtics 72 Carolina Pirates 0
The Pirates, with their third new city since last season, went on the road to face the Celtics of Scotland. The Celtics didn't exactly lay out the welcome mat as they steam-rolled the visiting Pirates for nearly 500 total yards of offense. Celtic defensive end Ed Hill sacked the Carolina quarterbacks 3 times, and halfback Justin Attree ran for 107 yards and 3 scores. The longest play of the day was this interception returned for a score by Jack Johnson in the first quarter.

Amsterdam Fire 52 Massillon Grizzlies 17
The Grizzlies, clinging to second place in the conference, had the task of visiting the undefeated Fire this week. Massillon stuggled to keep this one close. Running back James Howlett drew them within 7 after two early touchdowns by the Fire, but that margin would be short-lived as three plays later, Eustace Haney found Scantron Jackson who worked his way free for a 53 yard touchdown reception. The lead would be double digits the rest of the way.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108817&pbp_id=5165861

Tilburg Fighters 6 Paris Penguins 24
Tilburg had dropped 3 straight games before hosting a Paris team that had lost 4 in a row coming into this week. It was the Penguins who would enjoy the win column this week, largely due to a big effort by Ahmad Muhammad. Muhammad accounted for 310 of the 405 total offensive yards for the Penguins. This 70 yard rumble, the first of his two touchdowns, pushed the Paris lead to 11 with under five minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Some big games this week. I have a feeling that it's only going to get more heated the rest of the way. Thanks everyone for some nice games this week, and good luck as we all make our push for playoff contention now.
