Power Rankings and Predictions - Week 9 - Eastern Conference
Nothing too major, although the Manitoba upset over St. John’s raises some questions about the Fog Devils. Still, this conference has very little parody in it. Basically, you’re good or you’re bad.
Last Week’s Predictions: 7-1
1. Flappin' Heads (8-0)
Previous: 1 High: 1 Low: 3
Next: vs Regina
Notes: Did exactly as predicted: Passed on Triple B’s, and hung on to win. Late TD made it a little closer than it was, but still a good game. Next game vs Regina should be another muscle flexer where they beat a good team. They win by 9.
2. Triple B's 13th Cadre (7-1)
Previous: 2 High: 2 Low: 6
Next: @ Thunder Bay
Notes: Put up quite the fight, so they keep their #2 rank. Still a very solid number 2 unless they slip again. They should rebound just fine against a decent Thunder Bay team. BBB’s win by 17.
3. Quebec City Chiefs (7-1)
Previous: 3 High: 1 Low: 3
Next: @ Shqiperia
Notes: They won, so they stay put. Next is another ho-hum game proving nothing unless they lose. They’ll win big again, call it 31 this time.
4. Eastside Eagles (6-2)
Previous: 5 High: 2 Low: 5
Next: vs Tebow Sucks
Notes: I hope Chris Fratz’s back doesn’t hurt from carrying this team. Next game vs Tebow will be tougher than it appears. I’m predicting the upset. Eastside loses by 6.
5. Regina Pounders (7-1)
Previous: 6 High: 4 Low: 6
Next: @ Flappin
Notes: Proved nothing in their last game, but this coming game should be interesting. It will definitely be a true grade of talent. They’ll still lose to the mighty heads, but how much they hang in there will be the real thing to look at. Loss by 9.
6. Tim Tebow Sucks (5-3)
Previous: 7 High: 6 Low: 14
Next: @ Eastside
Notes: Fairly impressive win versus a decent Thunder bay team. Next game versus east side will be even tougher, but this team is impressing me more and more. I think they pull off the upset. TTS wins by 6.
7. St. John's Fog Devils (6-2)
Previous: 4 High: 4 Low: 11
Next: vs Great Lakes
Notes: After 8 games, does anybody really know who or what the Fog Devils are? Unpredictable is the word. A small slip up hurts, and Great lakes is still nothing to sneeze at. Still, St. John’s needs to come out and avenge their loss. They’ll move the ball up and down the field and win by 17.
8. Manitoba Manatees (3-5)
Previous: 9 High: 6 Low: 9
Next: @Port Dover
Notes: Where exactly does a 3-5 team sit in the rankings? Well after an impressive defensive performance, I choose slot #8 for the sea cows. Next game vs Port dover should be a win… we’ll say a TD separates them in this low-scoring affair.
9. Thunder Bay Hitmen (5-3)
Previous: 8 High: 5 Low: 10
Next: vs Triple B’s
Notes: They played a tough game against Tebow, but they couldn’t quite pull it out. Again, they’ll do their best, but it won’t be enough. Triple B’s is more talented and will beat them by 17.
10. Mystery Alaskans (2-6)
Previous: 11 High: 10 Low: 13
Next: vs St. Catherines
Notes: They took care of the Quebec Eagles handily to prove that they’re still what some may call “Average”. This game vs St. Catherine’s is a W. Nobody loses to St. Catherine’s. 21 Points.
11. Great Lakes Rum Runners (2-6)
Previous: 10 High: 10 Low: 15
Next: vs Eastside
Notes: Put up a fight against East side but it wasn’t quite enough. This week they’re playing a shaky St. John’s team next week that needs to prove something. Methinks that the rum runners fall short against St. John’s at the end of the game and lose by 17.
12. Quebec Eagles (2-6)
Previous: 12 High: 12 Low: 15
Next: @ Alberta
Notes: Tough loss to the Alaskans. Not much else to say, though. They should take care of Alberta just fine. 10 point win.
13. Port Dover Panthers (2-6)
Previous: 13 High: 7 Low: 13
Next: vs Manitoba
Notes: Didn’t score nearly enough as they should have, but they still got a very close win. They’ll need a lot of luck against a much better Manitoba. They lose by 7 in a low scoring game.
14. Shqiperia Shqiperia (0-8)
Previous: 15 High: 13 Low: 15
Next: @Quebec City Chiefs
Notes: At least they didn’t get blown out. Still tough to lose by 1, though. This next game is a tough game, as most will be. Their season is over and the year is only half done. Not much to play for, so they lose to the Chiefs by 31.
15. Alberta Avengers (2-6)
Previous: 14 High: 7 Low: 15
Next: vs Quebec Eagles
Notes: How did this team win 2 games? Their defense is god awful. They lose by 10 points, and that’s generous. Their offense should keep them in it for about 5 minutes.
16. St. Catharines Stompers (0-8)

Next: @ Mystery Alaskans
Notes: Did put up 21 against a tough Quebec Chiefs team, so that’s a plus. Hard to move you up the ranks when you lose by 30 though. This next game doesn’t seem to be a good omen, either. They lose to the Alaskans by 3 TD’s.
