This week brings lots of shakeup as the best teams are pretty clear by now, the middle teams are all jumbled up, and the bottom teams...well...they won't be moving up anytime soon.
Biggest Riser: St. Johns Salty Dogs (+6)
Biggest dropper: Destruction Bay Dragons (-4)
The Top Eleven:
Team Name/Record/Prev #
1) Saskatchewan Sasquatches 6-0 -2-
Have had a challenging schedule and showed complete dominance. How will they do next week against #2 Vinland?
2) Vinland Vikings 6-0 -1-
May have the best team on paper, but their defense shows holes. Much will be revealed in next weeks game against #1 Sasquatches.
3) Queen City Black Cats 6-0 -4-
May have only had three real games, but has so completely dominated you wouldn't know their opponents were very good in any of them by the score.
4) Halifax Hashishim 6-0 -3-
Very good team but doesn't dominate the way the teams above them have. With an easier schedule they just might though...watch out.
5) Nebraska Husker Maniacs 5-1 -6-
In their three game vacation against the three worst teams...-yawn-
6) Cold Lake Wolverines 6-0 -5-
Keep on winning, but their defense is allowing too many points against teams they should almost shut out.
7) Cheyenne Mountain Air Force 5-1 -7-
Rebounds this week with a good win over an easy team. Gets one more easy game then they hit #4 Halifax.
8) Sudbury Spartans 5-1 -8-
I think this team is really really good, but their loss to #7 Cheyenne prevents me from moving them up any higher...for now. Two weeks down the road brings QC Black Cats, and if they win then, they'll move WAY up.
9) Manitoba Icemen 4-2 -9-
Tough, close loss against the #2 team shows they can hang with the best...just not quite beat them.
10) Vancouver Vindicators 5-1 -10-
Blowout against a bad team doesn't jump them up, but at least they are still in the top ten.
11) Hillsburgh Hillbillies 5-1 -11-
I started thinking this team might be better than the Vindicators, then I remembered that they lost in week one to them. The Hillbillies haven't been very challenged the last 5 weeks, but that'll change in two weeks vs the Icemen.
Vying for playoff spots:
12) Montreal Canadiens 4-2 -12-
Lost huge to #3 QC, but every team below them lost to a lower ranked team too...so they don't move down.
13) Saskatoon Guerillas 3-3 -13-
This team is really sliding fast. I wanted to move them down, but who would I move up?
14) St. John's Salty Dogs 2-4 -20-
A big win this week puts them in a spot to jump right back in it. Their next four games should all be W's putting them at 6-4 before playing QC Black Cats.
15) Calgary Thunder 3-3 -17-
Has played two of the best teams in the west, but they need a big win to break free from the middle.
16) Revelstoke Revolution 2-4 -14-
I liked this team a lot and have tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, but they keep losing. The next several games are definitely winnable, but will they win?
17) Red Deer Blue Elk 2-4 -15-
Their two wins were against terrible teams (#24/#25). Their four losses against great ones (#3/#4/#5/#14)
18) Winnipeg Warriors 2-4 -16-
Just when I was beginning to hope they had it figured out, they lose a close one.
19) Saskatchewan Beavers 2-4 -23-
They had the talent on paper, now they are starting to win. Can they still resurrect their season?
20) Calgary Wrestlers 3-3 -18-
Doesn't have all the talent on paper, so can their gameplanning keep them in playoff contention?
Needs some help to contend:
21) Iqaluit Arctic Wolves 2-4 -25-
Team has drastically moved up the ranking in the past two weeks. (#28 to #21)
22) In San Jose Pimpin Aint Easy 1-5 -26-
Gets their first win of the season with a big game against the resurgent Beavers next week
23) Destruction Bay Dragons 3-3 -19-
They proclaimed they were good after beating three cupcakes...but have yet to play well against a real team.
24) Flint Tropics 3-3 -21-
Still a walk in the park for good teams, but they have enough pep to win a few games
25) Portsmouth Cavaliers 3-3 -22-
Wins against the cupcakes makes them look good, but they really are pretty bad.
Already building for next season:
26) Kelowna Outlaws 0-6 -24-
Might be better than the Cavaliers if only they switched conferences.
27) Quebec Boreal 2-4 -27-
Terrible team keeps getting blow out.
28)Toronto Smoke 0-6 -28-
Hey, they are making some strides to get better. I expect they'll put together a few W's by seasons end.
Free wins:
29) Castlegar Crusaders 0-6 -29-
Can't say the same about this team. Just plain bad with no hope for future.
30) Barkmere Bulldawgs 0-6 -30-
See above comment.
Teams your grandmother could beat single-handedly, with her eyes closed, in a wheelchair, and not knowing how to play the game.
31) Bloodwesier Bugle All Stars 0-6 -31-
Future? What's that?
32) Peterborough Preachers 0-6 -32-
They scored!! Woohoo! They now have 10 points on the season!
