Saskatoon busts Kelowna Bulls
Kelowna (CP)… In bull riding, a successful ride is just eight seconds. The Saskatoon Sasquatch made it a full 60 minutes, outlasting the Kelowna Bulls 21-15 in A5 action last night.
Joe Tagger threw touchdown passes to CD Toomer and Chad Growler and the defence kept the Bulls offense out of the endzone to preserve the win.
“Total team effort. We keep Joe clean, Joe throws touchdowns, defence keeps them off the board. When we play like this, we’re hard to beat,” explained left tackle Joe Jacoby.
The steady offensive effort, highlighted by Tagger’s touchdown tosses and Hawk Wayland’s 95 yard effort, was mirrored by gritty defence, who refuses Kelowna entrance to the end zone, despite several visits to the red zone.
“Ain’t nothing more dangerous than a man cornered, see? A man face to face with death becomes a lot harder to kill. Don’t ask me how I know,” said defensive end Tick Tock Tannenbaum.
Next week, the Sasquatch return home to face the Alberta Irukandji in the friendly confines of the Footprint.
“We’re looking forward to giving the hometown fans something to get excited about. Irukandji, fear the ‘Quatch, son. We’re comin’ for ya,” announced cornerback DeShaun Smith.
