I have a German and someone from Brazil on my team. I like GLB for that. I get to meet all sorts of people.

But I think a lot of FAs think leagues are somehow assigned based on geography. So since I am in Western Europe, I (owner) must be from Western Europe too. My German player asked when signed if he could speak German in the forum. I said "sure, might help spice things up"

No no, I meant that in reality the league name has nothing to do with it... Not that there weren't idiots out there that only wanted to play in the American league.

Yeah, FA's also get turned off by us being an "A" league. Hell, some of the teams in our league are better than some PRO level teams. People need to get it through their thick heads that the "level" of the league makes no difference.

It really just comes down to the fact that 90% of people are stupid =/

Hey, Dsobiera, I sent you a PM also.

I don't disagree with the stupid part...., but besides GUTTED Pro teams there isn't 1 team in this league that would stand up to any Pro team that makes the play-offs of any of the leagues. Unless you know of one specifically... again at least set the bar on those teams that make play-offs. Gutted teams are rampant in the Pro's because owners can't hack the preasure, so it's not fair to compare anyone to those teams.

Most of the guys in here that have the mad skilz players have them because they're friends of theirs. Don't sweat it. If you build it they will come... Just gonna take time, getting out of the 'A' league and maybe getting a friend or two to join up.

*cough*second largest*cough*

Anyways, I just say to dsobiera, don't give up, man. Get a group of guys that want to stick it out together on your team and build from there. Levels eventually take care of themselves if you take care of the guys you have there. Recruiting lower level guys isn't always bad since it's really hard to totally screw up a player by level 4. I've seen some really bad level 20+ players that should probably just retire and start over because of how long it will take them to get that fixed.

I recruited a lot of low level guys last season, and almost all of them came back this season and signed on through next. We're in pretty good shape I think just by having that core unit sticking it out together.

I second what Cali is saying.....

I always recruit the agent rather than the player. I don't want a bunch of tools on my team who won't listen and generally have the IQ of my wife's cat.

Recruit good guys who have a clue what they are doing but loyal to them and it will work out. Being a bit behind the curve it might take a season or 2 but it pays off in the end.

Alot of player just want to be treated fairly. On the flip side, the majority of the players are also not smart enough to keep from drowning in a hard rain. It takes alot of sorting but finding the good, smart guys is worth the effort.

elder you sneaky cooz.... I'm not adding more seats until I expand further, so I'll just have to be content with largest in Zeta for now....

Anyways.. back on topic for a bit after my highlight thread has been hijacked .. Here's some highlights and recaps for those looking for them....

Barcelona Bulls 27 Amsterdam Fire 34
Kicking off with the most exciting game of the week, we had Amsterdam visiting Barcelona, and the Bulls gave the Fire all they wanted in this one. The Fire have been the odds on favorite in Alpha since the beginning of the season, but we all knew they'd have their hands full with the Bulls. M.J. McLovin looked sharp completing 10 of 17 passes, while running backs Swift and McTruck ground out some tough yardage and each made it to the endzone. With time ticking away in the fourth quarter, McLovin found a wide open JJ Mack on this third down play to set up the game-tying field goal.

The Fire won the toss and took the ball first in OT. The biggest play of the drive was on this third and 7 where Brendan Nolan won't be denied the sticks, breaking through the Bulls tacklers.

Amsterdam's Mr. Muscle finished the game going 11 for 18 through the air, and his lone touchdown pass came after that play by Nolan in overtime to the tightend Klein, letting the Fire escape with a win.

Tilburg Fighters 16 Ljublana Chamois Scabs 28
The Scabs went on the road and kept their early win streak going against the Fighters. Behind the excellent play of their QB Mikal Gunner, the Scabs rallied from an early defecit with an outstanding second half. Gunner finished by completing 61% of his passes for 174 yards. This hook up with Richard Blais in the third quarter pushed the Scabs lead to 12 points.

Paris Penguins 7 Massillon Grizzlies 33
The Penguins struggled after jumping out to an early 7-0 lead, and Massillon once again looked like a force to contend for the Alpha conference title this season. Massillon running backs Knight and Capone combined for 255 yards on the ground and allowed the Grizzlies to set the pace of this one. Da'Tiger played well to complement the hard-running backfield, by completing over 70% of his passes and 3 TD passes, with only one interception. This nice run by Knight set up the first of Da'Tiger's TD passes and gave Massillon the lead for the first time in the game with just over 2 minutes remaining in the first.

Rotterdam Harbourmasters 13 Madrid Hares 27
Another big matchup in Alpha came this week as Madrid made their way to Rotterdam. The Hares continue to improve on their late season run of last year. This time their defense had it's way for much of the game. Rotterdam quarterback Silas Fox was under pressure often, yet still managed to complete 62% of his passes. The Hare defensive front held the Harbourmasters under 50 yards on the ground and sacked Fox 5 times. Rotterdam's last chance for a score was snuffed out by back to back sacks by "Sugar Bear" Grill.

Liverpool Scousers 20 Zurich Gnomes 13
How many good games can we have in one week? Well, here's another with the very impressive Gnomes paying a visit to the Scousers, who were coming off a tough loss last week to the Grizzlies. El Toro Chihuahua had another solid game for the Gnomes with 175 yards through the air and hooked up with wide receiver Lover on this play from the Scouser 40 to give Zurich an early 13-7 lead.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108823&pbp_id=1864293

In the closing minutes of the half, the Scousers answered back with a 40 yard touchdown strike of their own from Brian Outlove to "The Missile."
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=108823&pbp_id=1864512

Taking the 1 point lead into the half, that would be all the Liverpool defense would need. This interception by Arf Alicious would end the Gnome offense's last trip into Scouser territory of the game.

Judah Lions 25 Scotland Celtics 7
Those expecting a close game, myself included, were treated to a surprise with Judah dominating this match up. The Celtics got an early lead by way of an Eph Williams pass. Williams finished with 116 yards through the air but completed only 18 of 58 attempts as he tried to will Scotland back into this game. Judah quickly took control back on their next drive. Backup quarterback Rivers Kurono found "Blaze" Moss for this 54 yard score just 5 plays later. "Pigeon Toe" Murphy banged in 6 of his 7 field goal attempts to put this one away after that.

Cherry Valley Wizards 23 New Denmark Pirates 49
The Pirates found the win column this week after their visit to Cherry Valley. New Denmark just had more firepower in this high scoring affair. Diego Buskas gave it his all for the Wizards, reeling in 22 catches for 202 receiving yards, an outstanding individual effort. However, it wasn't hardly enough to battle back against the Pirate offensive backfield, as it racked up 374 yards on 55 carries (6.8 ypc) and 6 touchdowns. The first score by this group came on this outside run by Herl Kambell.

Berline Wall Crushers 27 Malta Ospreys 3
Malta, the Alpha conference newcomer, has had a rough start to the season. It didn't get any better this week as they visited Berlin. The Wall Crushers hit the ground running and carried an early lead to an easy victory. Ty Ptak led the way with 162 yards and this spectacular touchdown run in the first quarter.

Zeta will be up as soon as I finish going over the games.

Very, very true. Some of these guys, I'd go with that cat. Who has a player from S2 and still *no* *basic* equipment? Only one attribute in blue is often best, but none...

In this league, I'm just an agent with players on Cali's team. In USA-A#5, I'm the GM of a team he coached when I arrived. The "USA" doesn't mean all that much in recruiting, either, unless you're in USA-Pro or AAA. I couldn't sign a #2 FS until Day 3. I completely gave up on players under level 14, they're all getting those stupid huge contracts from capped new teams. If you don't already have level 24 players, they mostly won't sign with you. So, too many teams are locked into that 14-23 recruiting pool, half the level 18's want to be starters, and it's ridiculous.

Chemistry isn't *just* those bars. You need to get it going, and keep it going.

Nice read as always Cali, not sure where you get the time for that crap, but it's the most entertaining dialogue I have in any of the leagues I've seen. Keep it up.

Nice win this week for the Scousers. The Gnomes are one of the most improved teams from last season in my opinion.

Yeah great job, and I love being sneaking! It really wasn't sneaky, just part of my preseason strategy, but it looked sneaky.

Well actually we were doing good the end of last season .. the current owner didn't take over till we were already 0-6 last season ( well 0-5 with 12 hours till the next game ... ever try to build a team in 12 hours to win ) ... The team has come along ..... we are not perfect but we have pretty solid team ( IMO )

Our goal is to atleast make the playoffs
