I haven't really noticed anything different.

Probably just a good build based on agil/speed, and once he blew by you a few times your confidence shot your skills to hell.

NTs have an SA to bust through double teams. A regular pass rushing DT probably has better speed and agility and the Shed Block SA. As long as you don't pancake him, he's got a shot at getting through.

If the level 19 NT bought equipment and built wisely, he could have 75-85 strength.

Strength: 81.25 Blocking: 66.62

IMO, that seems low for a level 25.

From the state of the game address thread:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=630838

A good number of formulas have been adjusted to require some more support attributes to work out as well. These include catching, blocking, and breaking blocks, among various other things.

He did say that he would make adjustments so that a build like yours would be alot better at run blocking but weaker at pass blocking due to the difference in numbers, whereas a guy with 66 Strength and 81 Blocking would be weaker at run blocking but better at pass blocking.

It's also possible that you were unlucky with random number generator today.

Great insight. I really appreciate it. My guy was perfect this next game, so I think it is the speed DTs that are giving me problems. I plan to get confidence up higher as well. I do have one more question, though. The new changes to the strength and blocking ratio, does the sim look at your build before equip or after equip? or does it matter? The reason I ask is that strength is only 8 above blocking before equipment. Also, is it a higher priority to get confidence up or blocking equal with strength?

That's my impression as well. My C was getting pushed back quite a bit by a pretty average lvl 17 NT with strength in the low 60s and agi/speed in the mid 30s. Here's my lvl 18 C build:

Strength: 69.28 Blocking: 65.58
Speed: 17.89 Tackling: 13.4
Agility: 39.4 Throwing: 10
Jumping: 7 Catching: 7
Stamina: 31.61 Carrying: 9
Vision: 21.57 Kicking: 7
Confidence: 20.01 Punting: 10

My gut feeling is that the NT's speed is catching me and the RG off balance so we're getting pushed back a little.

my lvl 10 DT has 75 STR... it could be a problem for O-linemen now that the slow build high str DTs are comming up in ranks.

Would everyone agree that agility is the best defense against speedy D linemen? Obviously some speed would be needed, but it seems to me that at least for pass blocking, speed can't be too important. BTW, good discussion, guys.

I've got both of the guards on my team and while they're not spectacular players, one did make the conference pro bowl team last season. Both of them have been performing much better in pass protection, despite being 60% run oriented. However, both have also been much worse on run blocking this season.

I think this is a sack for the LB without my guys speed/agility and vision.

Agree. I have quite a few OL builds with great agility/strength/blocking. They do great on pass blocking. For run blocking, you need good quickness off the snap, so I think speed is also important. I've got a starting lineup of my OL on a lvl 13 capped team that isn't getting the surge I had expected for running up the middle. I'm training speed to fix it. I'll report back its effectiveness in a couple of weeks.

I also think that speed, oddly, is important for run blocking and pancakes.

I've noticed a huge drop, but I'm thinking part of it is that we just moved up a league and are facing better talent, and part of it is I let his speed and agility fall a little behind pumping the SAs towards the Playoffs last season. Weird that he had the worst day of his career right after Bort "nerfed" the DEs when they were all whining a week ago. It really seems like he hasn't been the same since.
