Ok can we get off the subject of soldiers, please. The general idea of someone enlisting is to defend the rights of Americans. We've already established that there were ulterior motives for Iraq. Afghanistan, yes it was retaliation for 9/11. Iraq, even though I agreed with taking Saddam out of power because he was a terrorist to his own people and I STRONGLY believe he helped finance Bin Laden and his group, there is no physical evidence he had anything to do with it, so it's just a belief.

The direction this is going is getting out of hand. I will say it again, for the sake of those of us who have served, and those who are still serving, please let this subject drop. There is no relevance to the topic anymore.

Mikebones, I understand how you feel, believe me, I served 2 times in Iraq, but there is no relevance to the topic by arguing over it. People have the right to their own opinions on the subject, but to argue with them over their opinions is not going to get anywhere. If you can provide facts and links to where people can find them fine, but do it through private messages. Not in the forum.

As for the Patriot Act. I think they went too far with that one. Yes I agree, find terrorist cells inside the US is a good thing, but to give the Government the right to tap anyone and everyone is wrong. That is too much power and it will be abused.

Please let this subject go.

Please remember when you start spouting off about protecting our freedom and such that this is not a US only site. There are plenty of us that aren't from America, and considering this is the SE Asian league, probably the highest probability that they will have relatives who have experience of being invaded by the US (Vietnam) or have far more in common with the people in the Middle East (helluva lot of Muslims in SE Asia too).

A persons viewpoint tends to depend largely on the pot luck of their birth - trying to force gratitude on an unknown audience is folly at best, and distracts from the business at hand which is that Southern Wastes are going to whoop Phuket just like we did last year!

This whole thread actually makes me miss those Surabaya blowhards and their trash talk

Why is this dumb? What freedoms are being fought for? The same ones that are being oppressed by the Act?
