Lion Conference

#1, South African Ridgebacks (17-1) vs. #3, Zambia Lions (15-3)
Four weeks ago these same two teams met, headed into the game going in different directions. The Ridgebacks had just embarassed the Valla Beach Woolsheds (38-0) and were riding the momentum of a 13-game winning streak. The Lions were reeling from a devastating 19-23 loss to the White Rhinos two weeks prior and gained little from an expected victory against the Nairobi Warthogs. What took place in the "Lion's Den" was an embarrasing defeat in which the South African Team had 49 points on the board before Zambia closed the game with a 17-yard touchdown pass to avoid a big zero on the scoreboard. The Lions offense couldn't get anything going and that kept the defense on the field for far too long and the Ridgebacks took advantage.

This time they'll play in "The Kennel" and the Lions are out for revenge. They overcame any concerns regarding Team Chemistry in a stunning upset (35-3) against the Buckeye Nation last week. Likewise, the Ridgebacks defeated the Windhoek White Rhinos in a game that wasn't as close as most predicted it would be (22-3). In the end, the score of this game may not be as lopsided, but the outcome will not change. Behind the leadership of a great owner, and formidble GM's & coordinators...South Africa will prevail.

Final Score: South African Ridgebacks - 34, Zambia Lions, 23

Elephant Conference

#1, Zambia Zombies (17-1) vs. #3, Charlie Don't Surf (16-2)
Interestingly enough, it was also four weeks ago that these two teams met. Likewise, it's a #1 vs. #3 matchup for the Elephant Conference just as it was for the Lion Conference. The similarities end there. When the Zombies went into "Apocalypse Field" four weeks ago they were undefeated and hoping to leave that way. Trailing 26-20 entering the fourth quarter Charlie Don't Surf rattled off 10 points before the Zombies added a field goal to bring the final score to a 30-29 victory for Charlie Don't Surf.

The Zombies have walked an easier road to get to this game, and they're fortunate they'll get to play this one in the friendly confines of the "Zombie Zone." The one-point difference could've been overcome had Ray FinkleEinhorn not missed a 48-yard field goal with 10:42 remaining in the third quarter. It's the kind of tough kick that seems to find its way through the uprights on home turf, but just misses in unfriendly territory. This is a tough one to call, but it may come down to a made field goal instead of a missed one this time.

Final Score: Zambia Zombies - 29, Charlie Don't Surf, 27

Ridgebacks

Charlie

Although calling a winner in the Charlie/Zombies game is basically flipping a coin.

I also do not expect a close game this time around. I'm expecting a 10 point win from either team.

The prize to the victors? Going to Africa Pro and contend with the gut-special team, Conarky Coyotes. An Oceania Pro team (Sydney Seahawks) that was gutted and all signed to Africa Pro where they could dominate. Whoever moves on... I hope they take that team out.

Very nice write up. I haven't been paying much attention to the LION Conference, but the write up for Elephant conference is amazing. I know the Zombies want revenge for the last lost by 1 point. The Zombies get lucky for this game and will have that all important 12th member on every play call The ZOMBITIES! 14,890 screaming, half dead (alcohol poisoning) FANS!

I really think it will be a coin flip for who wins this game. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

I think we (Zombies) do. But I'm not sure. Just going off the tiebreakers on the GLB FAQ.

I agree that there shouldn't be a home/away game for the league championship. That usually just rewards the team from the weaker conference.
