the 2nd one isn't a pull, the RG pancaked the NT and released to the next level. and it's cool that that stuff works at lower levels now. i used to think we just had to get higher level Oline to get it to work, but looks like the tweaks have let those things work better even at lower levels.

I'm running an experiment looking at speed, agility, and vision for pulling guards. kcfdx was nice enough to lend me his team for the two scrimmage games in order to run nothing but outside sweeps. Here's game one:

(The team to watch is Tibet)

I'll have a more complete write-up after the second game, but so far looks like agility is most important, then vision, then speed.

Wow, thanks for posting that game. Very interesting that 2 things that most people don't think about are the most important for pulling guards. No wonder most pulling guards don't work very well.

I think this is one of my favorite plays. In a run up the middle, Red Bean doubles the NT but slides off just in time to get ILB coming hard to make the play. Red Bean's play turned a 2 yard gain into a 9 yard gain.

I'm just curious, are there ever any counters in runs where a LG might pull to the right? Or a counter to the weak side where a RG might pull to the left?

If that's currently in, or will be implemented later, I imagine speed will be a little more important for the G's.
