I was wondering where everyone else's Defense was in comparison to each other so I hit Excel up and crunched some numbers. This was posted first in my team forum (QC Black Cats).
Defensive Rankings are based on this forumla: (Pass Yrds Allwd+Rush Yrds Allwd)/Points Scored.
The higher the value the more yards the opposing team on average need to get before they score a single point. All values are updated per last game played (values taken from Week 8 - the last regular season game).
Defensive Unit Rankings, in rank order (Yrds/Pt Allowed):
1. Nebraska Husker Maniacs (42.62)
2. Winnipeg Warriors (37.94)
3. Vancouver Annihilators (33.72)
4. Montreal Canadiens (29.29)
5. Red Deer Blue Elk (28.63)
6. Manitoba Icemen (27.48)
7. Toronto Hall of Famers (24.51)
8. Queen City Black Cats (24.35)
9. St. John Salty Dogs (24.05)
10. Saskatchewan Beavers (22.5)
11. Cold Lake Wolverines (21.78)
12. Vinland Vikings (21.31)
13. Halifax Hashishim (20.74)
14. Calgary Thunder (20.65)
15. Saskatchewan Sasquatches (19.31)
16. Cheyenne Mountain Air Force (18.55)
17. Calgary Wrestlers (18.18)
18. Kelowna Outlaws (17.63)
19. Iqaluit Arctic Wolves (17.58)
20. Saskatoon Guerrillaz (17.09)
21. Hillsburgh Hillbillies (16.26)
22. Destruction Bay Dragons (15.80)

30. Castlegar Crusaders (11.64)
31. Barkmere Bulldawgs (8.95)
32. Bloodweiser Bugle All Stars (8.00)
If you want a rough estimate on yards given up per touchdown on average multiply the numbers in parenthesis by 7. For example: On avg., it takes the opposing team 298.34 yds before the Nebraska Husker Maniacs Defense yields a TD (42.62 yrds/pt allwd X 7).
NOTES:
-The Nebraska Husker Maniacs have the best rating; the Bloodweiser Bugle All Stars the worst.
-Dallas Crimeboys come in to the playoffs with the #6 WORST Defense in the league.
-Teams with a ratio of ~1.5-to-1.0 for pass yards allowed/rush yards allowed have ranked better both in Defense and in League Standings.
-Overall, if your defense did well here - you're in the playoffs.
-Take these numbers with a grain of salt; this does not account for the possible effects of whole teams boosting just prior to the playoffs games.
