I'm not sure this is such a good idea.
I realize that sex offenders are a fast growing demographic in Camelot and I realize that sex offenders are football fans too, but I think the recently announced Camelot Kings Sex Offender Night for the game on July 10th against the Ironton Tanks is a bad idea.
I realize the Kings is a business and that actionpike is just trying to figure out ways to increase revenue, but I think it's a bad idea and is in poor taste.
The details, as announced by the Kings this morning, are as follows:
The first 5,000 sex offenders through the door will receive a Kobe Bryant action figure with removable trench coat (apparently Kobe is a huge Kings fan). Additionally, Kings cheerleaders will be dressed as scantily attired prison guards, complete with handcuffs and billy clubs. A halftime presentation will honor the Western Europe #A2 Zeta Conference All Herpes Team.
Kobe Bryant will be in attendance as an honorary captain and will represent Camelot at the pre-game coin flip. He wanted to express his support for professional athletes being able to have sex anytime they want with whoever they want.
However some groups are not happy with the planned event. The Onion reports that the European Rapists Association, Europe’s largest association of rapists and rape enthusiasts, expressed its displeasure with being linked to the Kings because of Sex Offender Night.
“Having the name of rape and rapists dragged through the mud by being associated with the Camelot Kings is very upsetting,” said Buck Thurber, president of the group. “We have worked too long and hard to have our name sullied by the lowlifes playing on the Kings. No one wants to be linked to such a disgusting group of thugs, druggies and deviants.”
The European Rapists Association has scheduled protests outside Camelot Stadium. The group plans to be in attendance holding signs with the slogans: “Don’t Let the Kings Debase Rape” and “Registered Sex Offenders: Yes. Kings: No.”
I personally, am outraged by the promotion and think it is sickening. It's just a bad idea. The Kings should cancel the promotion.
