WEEK 4 POWER RANKINGS
1) (1)Montreal Maniacs (4-0): Montreal probably didn’t play their best game offensively, but that only equals a 30pt Shutout. Hill Tek and Trikerson piled up 185 yards and a TD and Chad Bosh picked the ball off twice. Next week, the century mark is within reach as the Maniacs go to Sanguenay. They may even be game planning for Cambridge.
2) (2)Alert Sentinels (4-0): Facing a pumped up Sactown D (6th in Conference), the Sentinels 3rd ranked Pass Offense dropped 8 balls leaving their QB’s to complete less than 50%. Rushing for almost 160 yards for 2 scores and the leg of Hikariu Longrange (3-3 FG) gave them just enough points to eek on by. They’ll gear up as Peterborough (7 ranked O) makes their way into Alert’s home field and #3 ranked D.
3) (3)Yukon Silent Pwners (4-0): A decisive win against the Knights featuring a very efficient offense thru the air(83% completion, 3 passing TD’s) and on the ground (Machine: 29-118, Frankenstein:28-110-3TDs). Their Top ranked Rush D gets the #15 Roosters in London with their 16th ranked Run D. Expect to see plenty of Frankenstein and Machine.
4) (4)Manitoba Wild Boars (3-1): The Wild Boars are back to their winning ways after taking out their frustrations on Toronto. Some big plays thru the air (Lyons to TE Cairns for 67.5 yd TD) and 3 TDs from Phil Blake on the ground. Mister Toyou was applying pressure all day with 7 hurries. Manitoba brings the #2 ranked O and D into Boston looking for their 4th win of the year.
5) (5)Cambridge Thunder Cats (3-1): 326 Yards Rushing, 3 TDs, and 24 broken tackles pretty much says it all, ball control football from the rushing trio: HB Kix Montgomrey, HB Dancehall Crasher, and FB Jebidiah Shaft . They still rank #1 in Rush O and now #1 in Pass D, a Tough Combo to operate against. The Cats will head to Niagara and face the Parrots, fresh off their first win of the season.
6) (8)Lake Michigan Maelstrom (3-1): Maelstrom takes the 6th seed from Sactown after slapping around the Goons. Four running backs had over 50 yards rushing and a TD each. WR Burning Routes added a 96 yard TD catch in his only one of the day. Lake Michigan hosts the Cougars this week after they received their first win by blowing out the #15 Roosters.
7) (6)Sactown Rage (2-2): After two straight losses, Sactown looks to right the ship this week with a visit to Albany this week. They played the Alert tight all game long, and were within 3 pts after Second Coming, connected with Sooo Deep on a 56 yard TD catch just before the half. But that was the closest they would get. Sactown will look to their #6 rated Defense to shutdown Albany’s #13 rated Offense and control the tempo.
8) (7)Norfolk’n Way (2-2): With four turnovers you have Norfolk’n Way of beating the Maniacs. With the offensively challenged ShenaniganZ (#15 ranked O) on tap, the Way expects their Defense to help deliver a victory this week.
9) (9)Peterborough Goons (2-2): The schedule doesn’t get easier this week as Peternorough face the undefeated Alert Sentinels. They will rely on their QB Move Over! Your blocking my View!! and the #5 ranked Pass Offense to upset Alert. Unfortunately, that plays to the Sentinels strength (#5 ranked Pass Defense/#2 Overall Defense).
10) (13)Niagara Parrots (1-3): the Parrots are our fastest climbers this week from 13th to 10th after beating the Heat by 59 pts! (and ending an 11 game losing streak including the preseason scrimmages!!!) They passed efficiently and ran the ball for over 200 yards led by Barbers 13-133-4TDs. But the next 2 weeks, they host Campbridge and Visit Sactown, If they can come out with one win, they are an improving team. But with the Jackalopes to close the season, playoffs may not possible this year.
11) (11)Toronto ShenaniganZ (1-3): A tough, grumpy Norfolk’n team comes into town with A Tough D and a point to prove, they believe they are much better team than 2-2 (losses coming from Alert and Montreal). To end the losing streak, Nor’folk’n will have to establish a run (#15 in conference) and stop the run (Norfolk’n #11 rush O). Toronto could make a good playoff push starting with this game.
12) (14)Cardiff Cougars (1-3): The Cougars think they are better then 1-3. They are! They want to say their offense is better than #11, It Is!! The D is SHUTDOWN, ITS NOT!!! Flooded with CPU’s at all levels on Defense means this team will only get worse defensively. The good news is that big time O will accumulate stats, but not W’s. The Mealstrom are looking to bring in their #5 ranked O and it will be tough keeping them to under 50 pts.
13) (11)Boston Knights (1-3): It was a tough loss after what was hoping to be the start of something promising. The Yukon passing game took off (#4 conference), and Rush D (#1 in the conference) kept them one dimensional. A good passing game (#6) is wasted due to a lack of run O, run D, and pass D (ranked 13, 11 and 13 respectively). The visiting Boars will not bring any favorable matchups this week.
14) (12)Albany Mohicans (1-3) 16th ranked Passing O and D. Sactown has the #5 rush O so the Mohicans won’t be able to gain much between the tackles. But with an all human team, and some good pieces to build around, I’m very interested to see how Albany grows.
15) (15)London Roosters (0-4): Another young, all human team that is doing things right. Will need to recruit some stars but has a good nucleus to build from and bodes well for long term success. The next 2 weeks the Roosters play 2 top 5 teams and it doesn’t look like their first win will be coming soon. But this is football……
16) (16)Sanguenay Heat (0-4): 16th ranked O and 15th ranked D; highest level human player – 11 Punter; 3 Human Starters; yada, yada, yada….. the Heat get #16 ranking.
1) (1)Montreal Maniacs (4-0): Montreal probably didn’t play their best game offensively, but that only equals a 30pt Shutout.
