Does anyone else find it remarkable that, in the 55 years since Tom Dempsey made one from 63, the record has only increased by five yards???

When you put it that way, yes. I saw the Cowboys tried to tie the record during SNF and it was well off the mark. It seems like it is just hard to kick the ball that far with accuracy.

The trouble is not just the distance but also being on target. Many have tried and usually the issue was being on target.

The question is, can Cam repeat a long FG like this in a non dome climate controlled stadium?
