One of my player's SA is red, and when I mouse over, it has"(penalty)" beneath the name. Why?

When Bort introduced archetypes to the game it changed how SA's work. Achetype SA's get bonuses and penalties. Bonus SA's are green an penalty are red. You can still use penalty SA's they just aren't as effective as regular or bonus SA's.

For some SAs the penalty isn't too bad.
If the SA has a "chance to fire" like 1st Step, the penalty feels worse.

Agreed, Spin on a Power HB still works great.
