Just how much importance does it have? How much does it affect dot gameplay?

I know it effects morale.. I'm also interested to hear what else it does

For QB's it effects how much the QB feels pressure (pressure hurts pass quality). It also helps trigger the pocket passer SA which can ignore some or all pressure in a given play.

It also for all positions helps resist the moral reducing effects of pummel and aura of intimidation SA's.

Ok so... Confidence is to morale like Stamina is to energy.

For all positions, morale acts essentially like a second energy bar. For every 10 it gets depleted, your player will be 1% worse.

Like Wise said, for some positions it has an obvious game mechanic tied to it also. QBs, Kickers, Punters.

For some positions there's not obvious mechanics tied to it, like in theory receivers catching the ball in traffic or on 3rd/4th downs.

For other positions, especially the D-line, there's often morale attacking VAs and/or SAs they need to guard against.

What is a good minimum level to shoot for with SPs? Clearly QB can take a good bit but what O line and D line? LBs and DBs? WRs, RBs and TEs? Does it help with tackling like the Mental Attributes description for Confidence says?

I think so because if you hover over Confidence when spending SPs, the description tells you "a Confident DT/LB/CB is also more likely to make tackles" - something to that effect.

GLB doesn't have very many attributes. It's safe to say confidence is in most battle rolls, but what we don't know how much it's weighted. Confidence could easily be in the tackle roll but be weighted 1/20th as much as the tackling attribute is. We have no way to know.

Confidence helps both tackling and protects from the morale spiral when playing Power Run teams. As far as tackling goes define your remit and then build for it... ie...Power backs outside are a nightmare as they have great power ups etc and attack where they have an infinite advantage.....Much of that is down to the DAI and scouting but you also should take into consideration OTK VP ...Conf @ 40 ish helps but recent trends seem to be upping this to around 50 -60....Sure Tackler SA is decent and so is the right EQ...D Linemen need BB as well as MT as their direct opponent is likely to have 22.5% HB....If you cant break blocks you wont get into the position to miss tackles !!!!

I lol'd.

Confidence can carry a lot of weight if you accentuate it - just like any other attribute. Most coordinators want to see at least 40 so you can put in a point or so into Overtime Killer. Some teams make it a point to use Heart of a Champion as they are periennial playoff contenders- all depends on team and individual scheme

Back in the day - Jaxon Voom used to run the "D League Challenge" which was a one season game where everyone built a specific position peewee dot, no boosting or CE, and it was like fantasy football - whoever got the most points at end of year got a trophy (I still proudly display on my profile)

One season, we built HB and some chose PHB and some chose Elusive and one enterprising individual decided he'd make confidence his number one attribute on PHB... and he won.. . dude was tough to bring down
