It's time for a defensive tactics upgrade.

The need for red zone tactics, trailing big, and "and goal" tactics is accentuated by the glitch that fires off long pass defenses in "and goal" situations. That should never happen. Somehow the computer picks long pass prevent defense on 1st and goal. If we had red zone tactics users could take long plays out all together, or switch their defense to suit the shorter field. An 'and goal" setting would make this a more competitive game because the short run, 8 in the box, and cover two flats work best in these situations. This would open up the playbook and give games different looks.

I would love to stay in man coverage all game and then switch to Zone in the red zone taking advantage of the shorter field.

When trailing big in the 4th qtr, teams will run. We currently cant adjust for that. We can only adjust for the 4th qtr leading.

Lastly, I wonder what logic is behind offensive tactics being more extensive and situationally adaptable than defensive tactics?

Can we please consider upgrading defensive tactics to include the situations mentioned above?

Guess I'll post all the long plays that fire off on first and goal here. https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/11765/228445

My playbook has this play firing in 7 yards or more on 3rd down only.

Yeah, defensively it really does feel like you have to pick a lane and stick in it for the most part.

I think the only time I really switch defensive tactics is against agents I know gameplan heavy, and even then if you overlook something you’re toast.

This is why I like a balanced offensive attack, unless my opponent has a glaring defensive weakness to exploit.
Yes, I have no problem exploiting my opponents weaknesses if I can find them. I am a disciple of Bill Belichek.

And for the defense, as well. The defense should be able to tune whatever the offense gets to.

Hopefully, this suggestion is being considered. A tactics upgrade with defense in mind. Listing things it would be cool to do on GLB2. Listing other people's suggestions too;

Defense
Red zone tactics (Tactics should be adjustable for your own or your opponent's red zones)
"And goal" tactics (And goal tactics would work better than "goalline formation/short yardage" whatever that means. We care less about the offense's formation in defending "and goal" situations.)

Extra Defensive thoughts
The defensive prevent tab can be modified to add "if/then" scenarios that would allow users to customize their defensive packages due to certain things that happened in the game they want to prevent. The "If" could be a passing or running yardage parameter with a completions check; like, "if" 50 yards gained (by) passing (in under) two completions, "then". Here we should see the pass short, pass medium, pass long, inside run, and outside run options. Seems like a simple way to expand what defensive coordinators can do.

Offense
4th qtr 4th down, and 2pt conversion control.

Extra Offensive Thoughts
Adding Knowledge to this game was a genius idea. Knowledge should exploit more than it adds bonuses. Meaning it would be better to see the 1v1 wr/cb match-up looked at without check-downs and landing with the same bonus. Right now the three-star qb with choose to throw into double coverage even though he saw the defense over 100 times (or whatever). Knowledge just means he will make this incredible pass. Not a wiser more exploitative decision.

Thanks for considering some of these changes!
