It's time for a defensive tactics upgrade.
The need for red zone tactics, trailing big, and "and goal" tactics is accentuated by the glitch that fires off long pass defenses in "and goal" situations. That should never happen. Somehow the computer picks long pass prevent defense on 1st and goal. If we had red zone tactics users could take long plays out all together, or switch their defense to suit the shorter field. An 'and goal" setting would make this a more competitive game because the short run, 8 in the box, and cover two flats work best in these situations. This would open up the playbook and give games different looks.
I would love to stay in man coverage all game and then switch to Zone in the red zone taking advantage of the shorter field.
When trailing big in the 4th qtr, teams will run. We currently cant adjust for that. We can only adjust for the 4th qtr leading.
Lastly, I wonder what logic is behind offensive tactics being more extensive and situationally adaptable than defensive tactics?
Can we please consider upgrading defensive tactics to include the situations mentioned above?
