Pass Progressions Fixes
QBs scan from Left to Right or Right to Left in the NFL. You can't look Left and then Right and then Left again. There isn't enough Pass Pro time to adjust your feet and hips twice (versus once). Too many Pass plays in GLB2 have two (or more) adjustments rather than one.

Short Plays
PA FB Slide
Current: BTE, TE, WR1, FB
Change to: WR1, TE, BTE, FB (Long version) or FB, BTE, TE, WR1 (Short version).
The HB Slam Weak attempts to draw the FS, so hitting WR1 at the FS Cover 2 spot is the goal. The TE should be next as the PA should have drawn in the SS. Then the BTE crossing the middle with the FB outlet last. The FB should have a stop in his route, like a screen does so he doesn’t run all the way to the sideline. Additionally, the QB is taking too long to look downfield – like with most PA plays – 40 ticks is too long. The QB has to start looking downfield by tick 25 as speed sacks mostly happen at tick 32. This should really be a Long play. If you want to keep it a Short play, then the FB should be the first target, followed by BTE, then the TE, with the backside WR1 last. If Passing plays could be tagged like Defensive plays, this could be a Long or Short play (or both) depending on the team and/or situation.

Quick Outs
Current: BTE, TE, WR1, HB, FB
Change to: WR1, BTE, TE, HB, FB
Basic Left to Right QB scan. The FB outlet over the middle is last as the FB is QB Blocking Audible comes before the HB. Depending on how that code works, you could have WR1-BTE-FB-TE-HB if the QB knows to skip the FB if he’s held in. If not, the FB needs to be last. Additionally, I’d have the TE do a 10yd Out to create some separation with the HB flat route. And a final tweak would be that WR1 runs a 3yd Out with the BTE running a 5yd Out

Quick Slants
Current: TE, BTE, WR1, HB, FB
Change to: WR1, BTE, TE, HB, FB
Basic Left to Right QB scan. WR1 is the main target, followed by the BTE, TE, HB and last FB. This is if you want to keep it a “Short” play. I’ve included an example below. Tick 24 shows the Short play potential. But if the play continues, it’s either a mess or great depending on how Zone D is actually coded. Look at Tick 40. The BTE and TE are finally crossing and WR1 is almost on top of them. Can one RILB playing Zone cover all 3? If so, this is a mess. If not, then the QB should be targeting someone. Also, it’s not until Tick 52 that the HB and FB start to separate. Again, can the LOLB cover both of them? Or does the QB recognize a flooded zone and throw to one of them? How is Zone D coded versus how a QB reads “open” receivers?

TE Weak Overload
Current: TE, BTE, WR1, HB, FB
Change to: WR1, BTE, TE, HB, FB
Basic Left to Right QB scan. WR1 is the first look because with his outside release he’ll drive CB1 to turn his hips even if the CB is in Zone covering the Flat. Then BTE as he and the TE converge to the RILB/MLB zone. If the BTE goes uncovered when he cuts to the flag, he’s the target. Otherwise the TE should be left open. Finally, I’d switch the FB and HB routes, with the HB running a skinny post once through the Slam Weak hole (weak B gap) so that he’s not completely crowded around the BTE and TE (because again, how is Zone D coded?). The FB should be the outlet to the Weak Side based on the QB Blocking Audible order.

Medium Plays
Middle Overload
Current: WR1, BTE, TE, HB, FB
Change to: WR1, BTE, TE, HB, FB (same).
I’d recommend that the FB route be changed to the Strong side for the outlet. This play starts as a Weak side attack, becomes a Middle Overload play once the TE gets 13 yards deep (and the QB has protection) but ends up as a Strong side Overload. Look until the TE catch at Tick 68 and now imagine if the FB went to the Strong side as the outlet. You’d have a bunch of blockers in place.

TE Crosses
Current: TE, BTE, WR1, FB, HB
Change to: WR1, BTE, TE, HB, FB.
Notice the pattern? Again, I’d switch/change the HB and FB routes so the HB attacks the Strong Flat and the FB is the Strong side outlet. If not, then maybe the progression should be TE, BTE, WR1, HB, FB.

TE Out and Up
Current: BTE, WR1, TE, HB, FB
Change to: WR1, BTE, HB, TE, FB
Tick 35 of the play below shows the possibilities. QB looks Left to see WR1, BTE, and HB at three different levels. The TE goes downfield pressuring the SS until he breaks and pulls the LB/CB. This leaves the FB open on the outlet.

Long Passes
TE Deep Corners
Current: BTE, WR1, TE, HB, FB
Change to: WR1, BTE, TE, HB, FB
With either the current progression or the change, the FB should be the outlet to the Strong side. I’d change the WR1 route to a Go, Flag or even a 10yd In. At Tick 54, the WR1 and BTE are on top of each other.
