How they got here.
16th Gallic Legion was for the most part the odds on favorite to make it to the 'ship. Team owner william78 has nurtured a powerful balanced attack with All-Stars such as 3rd in OMVP QB Jupiter Optimus Drusus and HBs Buzz Lightyear and Musen Berg who are 4th and 8th respectively. There is also TE Vae Victis Vercengetorix, Jupiter's favorite security blanket and 9th in OMVP ranking. With these they hold the top ranked offense in rushing, scoring, and overall. They are also 3rd in passing. Defensively, DT General Mulan anchored the #2 ranked overall defense in the league. With the likes of LB War Dog and DE Great Smaug they are also second in rush defense and scoring allowed. On a windy and cold day william78 knew what he had built would be a formidable challenge for any opponent. 12-2-0 during the regular season, the potent powerhouse had lost to BDFC on Aug 11th @Black Dragon Fight Club's lair 14-30. Then there had been light snow and 17mph winds. Today the winds were worse and the temperature lower. After beating the iconic Gamma Division winners, Deadman Awakening, in the semis at home 16th Gallic was primed for this revenge bout with home cooking in their belly.
At 11-3-0, Black Dragon Fight Club was no one's patsy. They had beat 16th Gallic in their one head to head so they knew they could get the job done. They had been treated as an also ran all season despite their record because they had the nigh unstoppable Gridiron in their division and had lost to those Goolies twice this season. To make matters worse they had to face them again in the semis. After losing by a combined score of 69-3, they could have just folded... But that's why they play the game! Black Dragon Fight Club has no players in the top ten on offense or defense but they downed their nemesis 16 to 13, to become the giant killer underdog heading into the 'ship.
1st Quarter - After a wind affected short kickoff Gallic Legion start the game on their own 33 and promptly pitched to HB Buzz Lightyear, who went out of bounds for a 18 yard gain and a first down https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/813292/1688995 . But then the BDFC defense stiffens to force a punt. Starting on their own 20, Black Dragon also pop off a great starting play! QB Joe Armstrong threw a pass to WR3 Brisk Anderson, who made the catch for a 31 yard gain and a first down! It could have been even better if he had not been tackled by FS Lord Morgan. Again the defense stiffens and a quick touch-back punt ensues. 16th Gallic Legion then drives to their own 31 but seem to be ready to stall. 3rd & 12, QB Jupiter Optimus Drusus drops back on the play of the drive and threw a pass to TE Vae Victis Vercengetorix, who made the catch for a 15 yard gain and a first down! From there they pound and pass to the BDFC 18 setting up a 3rd and 10. QB Jupiter threw a pass to WR1 Retavious Tiberius Maximus, who made the catch for a 18 yard gain and a touchdown! https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/813292/1689157 . The next two drives of the quarter end in a punt and a missed FG by 16th Gallic. Black Dragon Fight Club end with the ball as the quarter calls it done and are about to stall out again to punt.

2nd Quarter - After the BDFC punt 16th Gallic drive to the opponent 47 when... QB Jupiter handed off to HB Buzz Lightyear for a 5 yard gain before a forced fumble by ROLB Pronto Carter! DT Heavy Henderson recovered the fumble! BDFC get a momentum changer! They try to drive it home but are stalled on the 16th's 22 where they attempt a 39 yarder. K Fever James drills it through the posts. After a back and forth 16th Gallic are able to drive down to the BDFC 12 where they are forced to kick a 29 yard FG which goes through this time to extend their lead. It's looking like a tough defensive battle on our hands as we close the half.
Black Dragon Fight Club - 3, 16th Gallic Legion - 10.
3rd Quarter - BDFC starts a series of three 3 and out drives which leaves 16th Gallic on their own 20 to start their second drive of the quarter. they take it for a gut spilling 7 minutes and 29 second drive that utterly drains the Fight Club defense of morale and energy. Then to cap it off on a 2nd and goal from the BDFC 4... QB Jupiter Optimus Drusus threw a pass to WR3 Mad Martigan, who made the catch for a 4 yard gain and a touchdown! This more then any other scoring drive I believe sealed the fate of BDFC as they never mount any serious threat afterward.
Sure later in the fourth 16th Gallic Legion had a similar drive that was a little shorter in time but it was already overkill when QB Jupiter Optimus Drusus pitched to HB Buzz Lightyear on the goal-line for a touchdown that ended all scoring.
This game proved to be a mere formality after the half as 16th Gallic was crowned, Champion!
