When I've seen First Step fire with returners it seems to happen when they're moving to where the ball will land and not after they catch the ball and start running back.

So, First Step for returners seems useless. Has anyone had a different experience?

Even with the buff it's kinda meh, players never slow down enough for it to activate. :/

I agree, on some punts where you have to run to catch the ball First Step won't work. But, there are many times where the returner runs to where the ball will land and waits for it. This is where First Step would be good.
However, I've only seen First Step fire when the returner starts running to where the ball will land and not after he catches the ball.

I'm wondering if that's just me or has anyone seen First Step fire after a catch is made (and does that happen enough to warrant having this SA on a returner)?

I have noticed that to some extent, and the ability doesn't like to fire very often so it's frustrating. Overall, it's a bad skill.

Plus, First Step wastes a ton of energy.
