I would like to see coaches have more control of what happens at the end of games. Such as punt or go for it on forth down.

I understand why this happened but it can be kind of infuriating. At least give us the option.

I Agree. I think we should be able to control what happens if we have a 4th and inches whether we want to go for it or punt throughout the game. Because there have been plenty of times when all I needed we inches to get the first down my running game was working averaging 3 yds a carry and boom a punt! cost me the game in overtime.

4th and 8 with less than a minute left if they completed the pass they almost surely would have won. They were pretty good on and longs all day. Instead they punt and had no chance.

I appreciate you bringing this up.

It's also in a way "double stupid" because we went for it on 4th and inches to get into that point at the 50.

I get that we had 3 timeouts left, but basically the net gain there is zero.

Granted that game was lost with the 3 interceptions more so than the 4th and 8 punt - but really not a logical play progression there.

I've always thought it was dumb that we don't have control over going for it on 4th down, late in the game/half.

Yeah you already went for it earlier in that drive so I was kind of shocked to see the punt. I think you probably would have completed that pass and scored. If you turned the ball over on downs you would have been pretty much in the same position you were in when you punted. Makes no sense.

Me too.

It makes zero sense in terms of strategy..whether the player has control of 4th down or not...

Trailing less than 2 minutes anything under 15-20 yards should be to go for it.

Yeah I've noted before and been ignored on this:

When teams are in 'go for it on 4th' mode they will immediately leave it upon getting one 4th down conversion. They will punt the next time even if it is only 3 seconds left on the clock, the behavior is reset once 4th down happens once for some reason.

Yeah that's goofy and seems like an easy fix
