I have seen it fire both on my blitzing lb. I didn’t see anything crazy cool about it though.

So would you say First Strike fires enough to really punish the other team--or help enough with balance to make it worth putting six points into gold?

I think its one of the few that's "quality" for a silver level investment if you are close on balance it can give you a leg up and at silver its 1 in 5 at gold one in 3 snaps if you are already faster off the ball anyway.
I like it as an add on just because there are not many really good silver level investment SA's anyway.

Given that it's powered by Snap Reaction, is there some kind of multiplier involved? I know it says "up to 10/20/35," but it was always my understanding that whatever skill powers an ability, the activation chance scales with the level of the skill.
It's at least got to scale to some extent, right? My thinking is that if you have 64 Snap Reaction, the number of times you beat an opposing lineman will be a lot less often than if you've got 70 or 80. In other words, the proportion of times it goes off requires that you beat your man first.

No.
The activation condition is just that the ball is about to be snapped.
To figure out how often it'll fire simply multiply the Snap Reaction skill value X the number in the SA. It's a pretty good approximation.
So if you have Snap at 70 on a player and have the SA at Silver (20%), then it'll fire about 14% of the time.
Whether it works or not, is based on the next condition.

Mine isn’t gold yet but I haven’t been wowed by it at all. Now if you built a blitzed or DE for it I am sure it would be amazing combined.
