On this cold brew day in the Blood Bowl Stadium two Divisional powerhouses met to find if destiny dared blink against them.
The Gliwice ND p_Lions are a storied franchise with a 10-4-0 record, having won the Beta Division and sporting an equally impressive 25-4-0 Overall Ladder tally.
They had beaten the Ann Arbor Wolverines @Ann Arbor 49-13 and, again as visitors, looked ready to face off against an even more dominant opponent. Team owner Ghanima had assembled what he thought was a coaching staff worthy of the season's title with General Manager Thrower, Assistant GM dlcurt, Head Coach p_wolf1, Off. Coordinator ND Irish1, and Def. Coordinator 4chanCitizen. Though only the upper management and owner would provide the players that would battle for the trophy. At least four of their S* players were bound for the All-Star game and looking to make a name for themselves in this one as well. Still, they were facing an opponent who knew no bounds and laser focused on an improbable goal.
Blood, Sweat & Beers. The name has struck terror into the hearts of their opponents all season. Undefeated, undaunted, and unabashedly cocky. These madmen of the Gamma Division had gone through every opponent placed before them and walked out as the last men standing. A perfect 14-0-0 record and attempting to also complete a perfect 30-0-0 record. A feat rarely chronicled in the tomes of GLB2 lore. A zany cast of characters that included such masters of disaster as QB Maximum Boss, Esq., the leagues newly minted OMVP and LB Got Sacked? * who is the DMVP this season as well. They amassed the leagues top Offense and Defense in every way except rushing yardage where they came in second. If their offense amounted to a defense trying to scale Mt. Everest then their Defense was the Mariana Trench that an offense would have to try and navigate through. So intimidating was the BS&B forces that their stadium has become unofficially called the bone yard, where opponents came to rest in pieces...
But that's why they play the game!
Blood, Sweat & Beers won the toss and elected to ram their offense down the Lions' throats. But on 2nd & 2 from their OWN 44, QB Maximum Boss, Esq. tried to throw a pass to TE Oops Didn’t See You *, but the ball was intercepted by RILB Middle 2! The Gliwice ND p_Lions were poised to draw first blood off that turnover setting up shop in good field position at their own 43. Three plays later they had the ball on BS&B's 37 on a 2nd & 6. RDE The Shadow sacked QB Ozymandias king of kings for a 7 yard loss! This set up a 3rd & 13 and QB Ozymandias king of kings threw a pass to TE Colossal wreck, boundless and bare, who made the catch for a 16 yard gain before a forced fumble by SS Sorry Was It Hard? *! MLB Hi The Names Jessica * recovered the fumble. This was indicitive of the entire first quarter as both defenses battled tooth and nail causing turnover after turnover. LB Middle 2 of the Lions had three INTs in the first quarter alone on his way to garnering DMVP honors with 5 total for the game. First Quarter ends with a clean slate Gliwice ND p_Lions 0, Blood, Sweat & Beers 0.
The second quarter starts with BS&B again with possession. 2nd & 16 on their own 14 after a J Bosa sack of QB Maximum Boss, Esq. for 6 yards ended the first. Despite that play BS&B are able to drive the length of the field almost entirely through the air to the Lions' 3 and a third and goal play coming up. The defense went to a 4-3 cover 3 zone bringing the LOLB on a blitz. AJ Hawk was a little slow off the ball so that blitz was ineffective as QB Maximum Boss, Esq. threw a pass to WR2 Deadly Wallop, who made the catch in the shallow flats after driving the route to the goalline and coming back to the one yard line on the out route. He caught it and backed it in for a 3 yard gain and a touchdown! Cornerback 3 gave way to much ground in soft coverage and Free Safety 2, who was playing out of position as the SS, was late in coming over from deep in the middle of the secondary. K Detroit Keos attempted the extra point, and it was good!
After this the defenses regained control as the two teams swapped three and outs and then Gliwice had a second three and out series deep in their own territory. BS&B was winning the field position game and now had the ball in the Gliwice end of the field. HB Uplift Mofo Party Plan was then handed the keys to truck-kun and on four consecutive plays pounded the rock at the defense. twice breaking of runs of over 20 yards to set up a 1st & Goal on the Gliwice one for the fourth play. The defense went to a strong side shifted 4-4 LOLB Fire 3... At least I think it's that as the ROLB went into coverage rather than coming up on the blitz which in turn played right into the offense's hands as they ran weak side just off the tackle and Uplift Mofo Party Plan ran in untouched. Again K Detroit Keos attempted the extra point, and it was good! The Defenses quickly shut the flood gates after all that. LB Middle 2 of the Lions snagged his fourth INT and the Lions offense are left spinning their wheels by the stout BS&B unit closing out the half. at half time it's Gliwice ND p_Lions 0, Blood, Sweat & Beers 14.
The third quarter started the second half pretty much looking like the first quarter, only with LB Middle 2 of the Lions getting only one INT, the Lions missing a 48 yard FG attempt and BS&B's offense finally getting in gear at the end with 9 plays of a 10 play drive at the Lions' 1 yard line and a 2nd & goal to go. This was only possible because of bad luck hitting the Gliwice ND p_Lions. as P Detroit Peos punted, from his own 30, 41 yards to PR Look on my works ye Mighty, and despair for a 5 yard return before a forced fumble by LB Sidney Dukes (who was doing LS duties)! SE1 (LB) Earvin Niedermeyer recovered the fumble and returned it the 33 yard line of the Lions'. The Quarter ended the score still 14-0 BS&B but they were about to blow this one up.
Sure enough the fourth quarter starts with a BS&B Touchdown on it's first play. QB Maximum Boss, Esq. handed off to HB Uplift Mofo Party Plan for the 1 yard gain and touchdown! K Detroit Keos attempted the extra point, and it was good! The Lions tried to crawl back into this one getting the ball on the ensuing kick-off at their own 27 and driving it to a 1st & 10 at the BS&B 23. QB Ozymandias king of kings threw a pass to BTE Colossal wreck, boundless and bare, but the ball was intercepted by ROLB Got Sacked? *! It was returned for a 1 yard gain where he was tackled by BTE Colossal wreck, boundless and bare, but the damage had been done. A well balanced drive between punishing runs and deadly passing culminated in a pass to WR4 See Yaaa :3 *, who made a jumping catch for a 18 yard gain and a touchdown! K Detroit Keos attempted the extra point, and it was good! 28 to 0 and only a little over nine minutes to play. It was over, done, turn out the lights and start the after party. But the Gliwice ND p_Lions don't give up like that and they drove the next possession to a successful 41 yard field goal by Kicker 1 in a little under three minutes. They then forced BS&B to punt in under 2 minutes. With 3:43 left to play and a 2nd & Goal on the BS&B 5, QB Ozymandias king of kings threw a pass to BTE Colossal wreck, boundless and bare, who made the catch for a 5 yard gain and a touchdown! Now they had closed the gap to 28-9. They decided to gamble on a two point conversion. QB Ozymandias king of kings dropped back. DE Gotcha :3 2.0 pulled off a spin move to beat the right OT. Too Late! Ozymandias king of kings *threw a pass to WR1 The lone and level sands stretch far away, who made the catch to complete the two point conversion! Now it was 28-11 down by 17... with only 3:36 to play... and they had to kick off with no onsides in sight... Just as the clock hit the two minute warning the BS&B offense made a first down. But strange as it sounds QB Maximum Boss, Esq. tried to throw a pass to WR2 Four & Twenty, but the ball was intercepted by LILB Middle 1 for the sixth time! He returned it for a 2 yard gain before being tackled by WR2 Four & Twenty. And true to how the day had gone for the Gliwice ND p_Lions' offense they drove it all the way to the BS&B 3 yard line. There, on 3rd and one, QB Ozymandias king of kings handed off to HB Look on my works ye Mighty, and despair for a 1 yard gain and a first down!... and time expired. Too little too late.
