Any system can be gamed, but literally even if you weighed ypc first unless its weight was 3x that of the other stats it's not going to be gameable the way you described.

The only way you could feasibly game the system for an MVP run is to just use only cheesy plays that favor your player against bad teams. You need all the stats to compete for a top spot.

And frankly, if you were worried about a top stat weighing too heavily, a team with a 3.5 ypc back who only run the ball every game could EASILY get the most yards for that back in a season without him doing that well. YPC is the best measure in this regard, but a shit ton of yards should also weigh very heavily.

TBH, I don't really care for YPC all that much... I'd just rank it Total Yards, then then TD's, then Broken Tackles, and lastly YPC in order of importance.

I feel yards per carry should be above broken tackles. Other than that I agree with the order. Sounds better than what we currently have.

Yards are a bit overrated. Seen plenty of players who are on teams where the get tons of passes/rushes and suck.

Number one thing I look at is Yards per pass, Yards per rush, and Yards per catch. A TE with 200 yards on 20 recs, and 1 TD, is not better than a TE with 200 yards with 10 recs, and 4 TDs. A QB with 4000 yards passing, 4 yards per pass, 50 TDs and 50 ints...is not better than a QB with 3000 yards, 7 yards per pass, 80 TDs/20 ints.

For me total yards and TDs are the two biggest factors for a HB. It may not be about being the best because the best is subjective.

A WR can have artificially bloated ypc stats due to play action. It may get 6 receptions for 200 yards but how hard is it to catch wide open balls in a slightly broken play? Not to mention that play may have given up 8 sacks. Eventually PA will be nerfed leading to untouchable guys at the top of the HoF.

Can we all agree that some variation on Yards whether it’s Y/Carry or just plain old total yards should be above Touchdowns? My old team Clean Up Crew would virtually pass every single play unless we were within the 5 yard line. Then we would just do inside run plays. Our HB was #2 in the MVP race.

If a receiver has 200 yards with 6 just receptions, then yeh.....I would say they're having a big impact. Artificially bloated?? Don't think we pick and choose which plays are ok for the HOF. Or do we penalize TE Flag, Weak Post spamming? ZEB, Tiger, Sam blitz spamming on defensive ranks?

The rankings already count yards, TDs, it's just that ypc isn't included. But again, something like 1st downs would be better to buff in the ranks.

Broken tackles should have little to no impact.

They won’t get penalized or rewarded unless you use ypc. ypc is more a coaching stat.

I agree that ypc would be hard to add. Maybe 1st downs and nixing vanity stats like broken tackles, but who are we kidding....ranks aren't gonna change anyway.

First downs are huge to me, but maybe not so much to others. Probably the #1 stat for TEs imo.

Dustin Hoffman once said "vanity is his favorite sin"
