NT rather than following the play goes and revcakes the QB, he is a freshly built experiment so his awareness is not very high so I am guessing he just didn't know where the ball was and ran the wrong way, but I love the result of taking a free shot at the QB

After the handoff, the QB trails behind as a "blocker", with the above result.

Yeah, I get he is a "blocker", but he wasn't between the NT and where he should have been trying to go to get to the ball. I would guess he failed to recognize where the ball was and the game sent him in the wrong direction, just funny that it basically worked out as a free hit on the QB that knocked down his morale (because obviously it would hurt a QBs confidence to fail at blocking a NT)

I'm guessing there was something with coding that might've prevented it, but why do we even have the QB block after a handoff or pitch?

It makes no sense in handoffs. It would make some sense on pitches IRL, but the way the pathing is for RBs and FBs on runs in this game (and defenders already knowing where they are going to go), they are never going to come back across the middle of the field after being pitched the ball to one side. Thus, the QB never even gets to throw a meaningful block. It just wastes energy and possibly morale if/when they do find a block because they will inevitably get caked.
