Now that the season is over and there’s nothing to do for many of us who prepped for the offseason ahead of time, let’s hop into some discussions.

I’ve always been a DB guy ( specifically 36%-43% man CBs) so of course I’m gonna start there. How are you guys feeling rn? what kind of schemes? what kind of guys are you building?

With Deadman, I went back to my traditional man deflection CBs. Unfortunately our offense lacks a few stars so I’m still a bit behind schedule, but the new defense scheme worked wonders for me in my opinion (for a first try at least).

Currently running a hybrid man blitz defense so the most important traits on my DBs is balance and quickness. Elite size (average of about 6’2 and 200+) and length allows normal players to match up with stars as long as they have the right build imo. Safeties are built to matchup, crash, drop back into midfield coverage, and hover. SS will be a stat Swiss Army knife while the FS will do their job quietly & efficiently.

I’ve noticed that guys aren’t building specifically for slot anymore and I think that some of you should. It took me forever to create a decent slot WR while creating a decent slot (Safety or CB) defender can take as much as a minute. We’re seeing the same saturated WR builds over and over, therefore the majority of game planning is honestly matchups. Generally I get my slot guy to 90+ man, quickness & sprinting with 80+ tech & deflecting. That should have your dedicated slot guy seeing about 30+ deflections a season and eliminating that extra receiver option often. SA’s can typically help make up for balance & footwork, but I still get them to 50ish for smoother animations

I’m gonna try and push balance as high as I can and report back my findings to you guys. Currently I’m only expecting a bit cleaner movement, but if it turns out to be something more than we can probably expect balance to be and exceptional pairing with intercepting

Thoughts?

For me I like the slot CB to have more sprinting and less footwork and pursuit in comparison to CB1. I also don’t give the slot guy as much run stopping skills.

I’m not sure if it’s the defensive plays or some other mechanic but WR3 just doesn’t seem to be as dangerous as they use to be.

It’s neither honestly imo, if you check the physicals you can see a lot of these guys are building max height guys running 5.0+ 40s with terrible combine stats. considering physicals and some skills contribute to those combine stats, you can pretty much determine what kind of build your opponents have gone with (im not saying you’ll be government conspiracy level, just generally able to tell which skills got more love than the others).

I don’t think people really stop and think about what a 6’6 180+ guy would look like as a receiver. Neither fully dominant nor elusive, coupled with a bad build and it’s realistically a recycled CIT build relying on cap boosts.

If I can prove some stuff with this Deadman test run then I’ll do it again with stars and a full immersive unit. Been noticing GLB2 is pretty realistic if you let it be realistic

TE Drive and TE Post used to be near unstoppable. Not so much anymore. I can barely get targets for my WR3, most good teams stop those plays pretty easy, at least the slot guy.
