Power Through is the must have for a Power Back.

Juke is the must have for the Elusive Back.

Thank you!

What else would you take? Stiff Arm and Brace for Impact for power?

First step and Spin for elusive?

Power Through, Brace for Impact and Stiff Arm is a pretty solid lineup for a power back.

The main four SAs for an elusive back are Juke, Spin, Surefooted, and Mr. Reliable.

Gun to my head I'd take Juke, Spin, and Mr. Reliable, but there will be times you wish you had surefooted instead.

You can go without Mr. Reliable if you're willing to give up more fumbles, or you can try to split the difference and keep a couple of them at silver.

I like Power backs more, but a great elusive back is very fun to watch.

Power: Stiff Arm is a must but fumbles come with it even with 100 carry

Elusive First Step is great for speed, i prefer juke for elusive

Just out of curiosity, how would you advise a power back be built for this effect?

Get your physical stats to mid to low then max conditioning and power running in that order

Thank you. Which physical stats o you mean? Sprinting, footwork, quickness, balance and toughness?

Thank you!

Last question: what run tactic would you use? Combo or Power?

I find if you're taking footwork over ~45 Power is usually the better option, combo works really well when you have very low mobility though.

Main problem with combo is that it won't break quite as many tackles - at least not at first - it has the weird potential to break even more once you are fired up though, but Power tries to do too much fancy stuff setting up those 'break this tackle or two and run for a big gain' where combo takes what you have and runs with it and rarely tries to 'force' big runs. Combo also is about the only thing you can run if you don't have much awareness.

Combo is overall very good, doesn't limit mobility, uses space wisely even with low awareness, and can be used to great effect with very little investment into mobility. But Power will have more chance of breaking big gains for any kind of HB besides a pure speedster. Even elusive-styles will break more big runs using power than combo, weird as that seems.

Combo is really specifically for the guys who sell out all their other stats to get that 95+ sprinting range - where you can start making plays happen with speed and decent blocks alone, add in a little bit of footwork to help break diving tackles and you've got a speedback going. But it works extremely well for guys with low mobility, and you should probably be running it exclusively until you get further on in the player's career as it is the best for low aware/quick/footwork guys and will make your back better at lower levels.

It all depends on how mobile you make him. But for general purposes combo will be the one to go for now, if you feel you're mobile enough to try power in the future and don't get bogged down too much by his moves to try and break big ones - go for it.

That's a fantastically informative reply Raid, thank you very much.

What level of mobility and awareness do you think would justify the switch to Power running?

probably best to stick to combo up til you hit 45 in quickness, footwork, and awareness.

Frankly though combo does quite nicely up to 55 quickness depending on the build so keep testing it out and stick with the one you feel most comfortable with. I do know on snow power is better in general.
