The journeyman tier is down to 12 teams, we started our rookie campaign with ~25. Several of those teams either reset after the rookie or sophomore season. I could be wrong, but I imagine it's because they didn't want to continually lose to the same 3 or 4 teams. Between teams dropping due to lack of competition, and significant changes being made between seasons, I don't understand why full respecs aren't offered yet. Almost the entire veteran player base has been lobbying for it since I started playing. So what's stopping full respecs?

Since this may or may not get a response. I'll provide the counter argument, team continuity. I like, no, I love the idea of developing a team from the ground up. You start a team as rookies and slowly build them up over the seasons until they're vets. The same team, the same strategy, with the same players. There's a progression to it. You learn the teams in your league and your tier. Each team has its own identity. It's a great aspect of this game, and I understand that full respecs undermine this premise. All of that being said, it's completely sullied by what I consider substantial off season adjustments. But I digress, there's a lot I could add to this. The community has been calling for them for a while so I don't expect anything to change.

I agree with alot of this. I myself am determined to stop resetting so much, and get the full value out of my players, all the way into vet - come what may. It's just too expensive to keep resetting so much. Rookie players have to be boosted 4 times, and that requires serious cash, and thus is a serious investment. For me though, the caveat being, I need to have wiggle room to adapt to changes in the game (ideally). Full respecs would give me everything I need for this to happen. But this won't happen. BTW, it HAS happened before, where occasionally Bort has given out full respecs. I can't remember why he did it but - it has been done. But the season respecs will have to do. I guess they figure it's part of the game. And of course, it's more profitable when folks reset.

The only issue i have with full respecs is teams will conform to the meta every season. Unless Bort gave one full respec in a career. Personally i dont build to the metas so i dont care much but those that do (aka exploiting the game) this is a good punishment for them and Bort and Co. make off on the reset like bandits. I like to reset after Pro or Journeyman as thats when metas make the game less fun for me and honestly i dont have the time to GP like some of the greats. So whereas i think one full respec is nice i dont think it should be a seasonal option.

I think they should give full resets if there is a major change to the sim....other than that I don't see why we need them and would be happy with that or even 1full reset per run to vet that is refunded to your account whenever you reset to rookie. Ive given up posting about it though. Ive only used the partial reset they do give a couple times because I don't see the point when it doesn't allow you to change out abilities and leaves you stuck with with wasted points that hurt your build sometimes more than just rolling with what you have. I have never not taken my team all the way to vet and run all my games out to legend before resetting to rookie but I may reset them after this season depending on how things play out. I want to try out 2 of the new abilities and adjust player builds a little but to your point above Ive been playing the same teams for so long I'm not sure I want to leave the guys I'm used to playing against.

Full respecs are needed because of the drastic changes made in some off seasons. I plan my team's builds months out in advance before reaching Vet, only to find out that once they get there they are useless because the changes break them? Come on, that's piss poor and not fun. If I spend the time and money to get to Vet I should reasonably get to enjoy that time there... a full respec won't change up caps on stats but it at least lets me try to fix damage done to a build months prior to something drastic in Vet.

How do full respects prevent teams from getting smashed by the same 2-3 super teams on each tier and then subsequently dropping out and losing interest in the game?

Obviously it doesn't ensure they'll be competitive, but at least it gives them an opportunity to address flaws in their builds. Look back at you first few players and tell me how good they were. Mine were shit. If full respecs were available, I probably would've taken my original players all the way to vet, but I didn't because they were broken by the time they hit Journeyman. With the player base as small as it is, the community can't afford to have people invest months in players to eventually find out they're shitty and their only option is to start from scratch. Full respecs address a lot of problems. Hell, I'm content with my players right now, I'm not lobbying for self gain here. I truly think they're better for the game as a whole.

I don't know if this is a joke or not, but it's kind of true. You can definitely get better at game planning. Unfortunately, you can't do much about poor build decisions. If full player respecs are off the board, why not offer tiered respecs? You get to pick which tier's points get reset. I know it'll never happen, coding that is probably much more difficult than coding in full respecs, but it'd address the broken build problem AND maintain player continuity.

I don't think it was a joke, and its definitely true. Ive gotten better because of wanting to beat those teams. Started paying attention to what they where doing, and trying to learn from them. It took awhile, and a lot of reading through old posts, finding open builds of successful players, and a lot of questions, but if it hadn't been for getting hammered by teams I probably wouldn't have put so much effort into it. It sucks to get pummeled and I hate to loose. Hardest part now is keeping up with what works for builds because it changes from season to season and sometimes drastically which is why vet guys call for full resets. I hadn't thought about it from a new guys perspective but you have a point.

We got smashed by top teams.I kept adjusting and tweaking things and eventually the gap got much smaller. Not much you can do about bad builds but I tried to upgrade where and when I could without cutting guys. I sponged the forums and worked hard to get better. Top teams are not top teams by accident and there is nothing stopping anyone from getting there themselves if they really want that.

Interesting and good points brought up. I'm not against it by any means. I just want to make sure it can help new players stay engaged rather than just getting trampled on and quitting.
