I would remove the forcing of going for it on 4th down. It forces me to go for it in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter, when I am trailing.

Someone just told me that we can't change that as coaches. Is this correct? If it is, I would strongly recommend changing that.

Also add when and when not to call timeouts, to stop the clock in tactics somehow. Because if I'm down too much in the 4th, I don't want to call a timeout, letting the other team to score one more.

And on the other side, 4th and inches being forced to punt when it's stupid to-- you're in the other team's territory so a punt won't even net you that much and you'll make it the vast majority of the time if you go for it, also should not happen. At the very least 4th and 2 or less to go, when in the opponent's territory, you should be able to set how long (up to 2 yards) and in what field position (a dead zone that's outside FG range but close enough that a touchback nets very little, and then very close to the goal line where if you fail the opponent starts very deep in their own territory), you should be able to set when to go for it. In the 4th quarter the score situation would take priority, as in up by more than one score you might always punt when not in FG range in the 4th, and close to the goal line if the FG would tie the game, give you the lead, or put you up by more than one score in the 4th quarter you always attempt it.

I could be wrong, but going for it on 4th seems to be dictated by QBs morale. Being able to set tactics for going for it on 4th down would significantly slide the tactical advantage to the offense. I couldn't see going for it on every 4th down not being the default for a lot of teams.

Has nothing to do with morale. The situations are all coded.
