How high should Deflection be?

It seems to me that the vast amount of incompletions happen from "nearby defense" rather than pass defections. Does that mean I should put Coverage Tech, Footwork, Awareness Skills in the 80s and maybe just get Deflection up to 50?

Thanks for any advice.

lol, never take footwork to 80 and even intercepting CBs have more than 50 pass deflection

good questions, typically you still want high deflecting, lets say a minimum of 70-75 for a CB.

lots of different teams have different CB builds. personally ours have no coverage tech but high awareness while others have much less awareness but high coverage tech, yet the results are very similar. ive seen 100 deflecting CBs net the same amount of PDs as CBs with 70ish deflecting. ive seen CBs with 50 sprint keep up with 100 sprint WRs and ive seen 80 sprint CBs get burned by TEs. not a perfect science and there is no perfect builds, just best to experiment and find whatever works best for the defense you are trying to build

It's an interesting question.... What skills have the biggest impact on getting those incompletions from "nearby defense"....?

WRs lack of "Catch in Traffic" is the biggest factor I have seen.

honestly there isnt much of a science to man coverage at all right now because its pretty broken regardless of your build. but you can mitigate a lot of head aches with higher footwork and man awareness for sure.

doesnt give a complete story of coverage because cpu defense is bad but this is a corner build type that would get at least 10 ints throughout his career bad defense or not before the balance changes. now he has 1 int in his career and only one game with multiple pds.

most of my cbs i build hold around 38-46% completion percentage.

Man awar is always at least 85
Deflection is always at least 85
now balance-50
footwork at least 65
sprinting at least 60
and quickness at least 50
vertical 30-45.

A big problem is getting turned around with current issues. So if you can manage to stay facing the qb then you have a better shot.

My sophomore CB last season with ~60 intercepting finished with 8 INTS.

This season, as a journeyman with 70+ intercepting he has 16 INTs through 25 games.

I think it's probably a product of the power passing changes. Most of his INTs come off soft medium/long range passes.

Overall, deflecting is much more important than intercepting. If I were to remake I'd target an end build with 90+ deflect/90+ man awareness/50-60 intercepting. Haven't quite figured out the perfect mix of footwork/quickness/sprinting, but I'd say all three should be a minimum of 50.

Why does balance have to be as high as 50?

And I'm still not convinced vertical does ANYTHING... I've built very good CBs with zilch vert

if you check the latest patch notes youll see that balance is now a major factor in CBs ability to maintain speed, turn, not fall down, etc. also greatly increased the need for vertical for jumping and diving for well, diving.

I guess I should have clarified... I don't believe half of the stuff I see in patch notes, or believe it factors in like it is said it does
