Season 28 Franklin League Week 1
Jarvis Street Coffee Squirrels @ Chicago Crocodiles
As I write this recap, I am laughing my ass off envisioning a squad of squirrels dominating crocodiles but Jarvis Street continued its dominance over the Crocodiles 63-0. The Squirrels’ QB Cary Byrne threw for 508 yards and 5 touchdowns in their aerial assault of the Crocodiles. Byrne distributed the ball amongst 8 different receivers with WR Receiver One being Byrnes’ primary target with 9 catches for 137 yards. The rushing duties were share by HB Pin Ball and HB Monte’ Foster. Pin Ball racked up 93 yards on 16 carries while Foster found the endzone 3 times.
LB Delvin Hicks and DE Keaton Kenney kept the pressure on QBs Jacob Cairo and Cam Silver, with a combined 4 sacks and 6 hurries, forcing them to throw 2 INTs to CBs Deion Bain and Kristopher McKenzie. The Chicago offense was held to 51 yards on the ground and 92 yards in the air.
Next week, the Squirrels will look to continue their winning ways against a tougher Gotham Knights squad and the Crocodiles will be looking for their first win of the season against the Virginia Zephyrs.
Virginia Zephys @ Gotham Knights
The Knights comfortably won their home opener 55-10. HB Deion Barr steamrolled the Zephyrs defense for 232 yards and 7 touchdowns. QB Paul Yancey was efficient completing 52% off his passes for 410 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. WR Damien Wayne led the receivers with 166 yards and a TD followed by WR Flash Bang with 100 yards and TE Randy Davison with 93 yards.
Led by CB Woodson 3rd’s 6 tackles and 1 INT, the Knights’ bend but don’t break defense held the Zephyrs to 10 points.
Next week, the Knights travel to Jarvis Street for a difficult match with the mighty mighty Squirrels and the CPU Zephyrs face some hungry Crocodiles in Chicago.
Hawaii Bulls @ Orlando Cheetahs
The reigning champion Bulls bullied the CPU Cheetahs in Orlando. I was actually surprised to not see the Bulls put up triple digits on the Cheetahs. The man of the match was HB Smash with 396 yards and 6 rushing touchdowns and 1 punt return touchdown.
Defensive stars for the Bulls were, LB Julian Parham with and INT, CB Vince Patrick with and INT, and DE Darrius Henry with 1.5 sacks and 8 hurries.
Next week, the Bulls host the CPU Vermont Warriors. I do not expect to see the Warrior put up much of a fight. I do expect to see more gaudy numbers from HB Smash in his bid for MVP. I also expect to see triple digits on the scoreboard. The Cheetahs will host the Golden State Miners with similar results to this one.
Golden State Warriors @ Vermont Warriors
The Golden Warriors travel to the Green Mountains and shut-out the Vermont Warriors 51-0. QB Ramtel Tipton’s arm was golden completing 76% of his passes for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns. TE The Efficient One was Tipton’s main man with 149 yards and 2 touchdowns. HB Odgar Ozorn rounded up the Golden State attack with 193 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns.
The Golden State defense was led by Podrick Ozorn’s 2.5 sacks, 5 hurries and 1 forced fumble, SS Steel Goldstein’s 1.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles and CB Lockitdown Solacesta’s 2 INTs.
Next week will have a chance to dominate another CPU squad in the Orlando Cheetahs while Vermont Warrior go to Hawaii, for some fun times. NOT.
Great Lakes Raiders @ San Diego Vampires
The Raiders had control over the Vampires for this whole game, winning 31-0. The legend QB Joe Montana complete 57% of his passes for 447 yards with 3 TDs and 1 pick. Another legend, WR Andre Reed caught 7 passes for 137 yards and a TD.
The Raider defense held QB Randolph Rosas to 37% passing completion for 148 yards with 3 sacks and 20 hurries. DT Cletus Spuckler led the Raiders defense with 1 sack and 4 hurries.
Next week, the Raiders will host the Kapitol Killers in what should be a good game and the Vampires will host the New England Mainiacs.
New England Mainiacs @ Kapitol Killers
My pick for the Game of the Week. Agerm73 and bobleck’s teams have always played great competitive games against each other and Agerm73 and bobleck know each other well. The Mainiacs came out on top in this one 37 - 27.
The offensive stat lines were eerily similar;
QB Tom Brady 68% 323 yards 3 TD 2 INT
QB Xavier Mackey 63% 323 yards 3 TD 1 INT
HB Mike Gillislee 56 yards 1 TD
HB Jame White 55
HB Derek Brunson 66 yards
The difference in this one was that the Maniacs were able to force FGs instead of TDs a couple of times down the field
GG Killers. RNG was on our side this time
Next week, the Killers have another tough matchup against the Raiders while the Maniacs get the CPU Vampires in sunny San Diego
