If it was as simple as he wants, then we would be rampant with cookie cutter builds (which we are close to having at times it seems ala star hb's).

You can learn the basics of what works, but you can't just put it in stone because the game evolves. What works now didn't work several seasons ago. On top of that, the game has enough openness to it that you can have several different philosophies and do well...for example, Rob, Dredgar, GE, and myself all do well with defense and we all 4 run different styles of coaching and player builds.

It is a football strategy game more so than anything else once you get into the meat here, not a simulation, which is why what you ask is not going to work well. Real football logic does not always apply, so you have to learn game logic instead. It's an adjustment, but its very fun once you figure out what you got here is a real gem in that sense.

To answer one of your questions -- to find a heading in the forums or builds or whatever just do a search in your browser tab, such as this one for Strong Safety builds:

"site:http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com Strong Safety build" (this is a Google "trick")

... Does that make sense?

1) Build some players/get involved with some teams and see what works.

2) Someone above mentioned looking through the hall of fame players and checking for open builds, do that to see what has worked in the past. Also look through the current successful teams and see what is working now.

3) Check out Stobie's GLB2 Scout site, there is both a player builder and team builder tool there that is very helpful (yes, it is an extra expense).

4) Understand that game planning plays a large part into a player's success. A poorly made player on a good team with a good game plan can be made to look pretty good, and vice versa.

5) The mystery is part of the fun.

Guesses are all we got, and I got a lot so far. People get upset and call me crazy when I post them because they are against the meta currently.

in terms of the relationship of attributes, you can definitely get the data both from combine statistics and watching game film.

you bring up agility for example which is pretty easy right now to define as it helps in combination with sprinting.

you want brett favre? pass power and technique. you want joe montana? tech and accuracy.

most of it isnt rocket science but the mysteries are what makes a guy throw some flex out for 5 offensive lineman and a kicker. if there wasnt a mystery combination you would just be given a team to run and go from there.

In most games, I have a reference for how much an attribute, skill, or trait will affect my character's performance. I see lots of supposition in this forum on builds, but I cannot find an analysis or guideline on what affects what. So, I am building blind. Worse, I suspect that a lot of the recommendations may be nearly as blind.

So, I have 2 questions.
1. Is there any place or means to determine the effectiveness of increasing X/selecting X?
2. Is there any way to search the dang forums to find the posts, such as the above, that may already be posted?

Secrets:
Conditioning 100 (or close)
Sprinting 100 (or close)
One skill with 100 (or close)

There you go.
