I would like to have the option to put duplicate defensive plays into a formation playbook page.

You would have to change the original play tag and you would then be able to use the play again with the original tags.

Once you place the play into your playbook you could again change the tags and it would be available once again.

This would completely eliminate any problems matching defensive play tags with defensive tactics.

The recent addition of user play tags are great and a step in the right direction. This would take it that next step and make defensive tactics much easier for new players and seasoned vets as well.

The issue is that if you want a very short or very long plays in some formations and not others things get tricky. You shouldn't have to get creative just to call the play you want, when and where you want. This fixes everything.

Not just a better game plan but the ability to easily get the plays you want called when you want them called. There is no reason to force us to call a less than optimal play because you can't match it up.

This was my idea ages ago to just copy each play so that it had a Short / Medium / Long option.

It works and it's easy to implement.
