Or at least make it an option for those who want to play in a different league. It sucks just being good enough to be competitive but having slim to no chance at winning every season.

I like this idea and will take it a step further. Shuffle all non-division winners. Cupcake divisions will not remain cupcake divisions and super difficult divisions will not always be super difficult. Plus it would add far more discussion as fresh new rivalries would spark every year and discussions of who will make it out of divisions will not necessarily always be a foregone conclusion.

This would work as well, anything to make it more interesting.

I can get behind this. Might stop a few teams from folding, if they know they can get moved to another division or league.

ya maybe wecan turn a top 5 ladder ranking into the playoffs then

I like the idea but I also like playing some teams often as that does create a rivalry.

I think too many reset if they don't win a ship in the first 2 seasons instead of letting the team develop and being patient

I thought I wouldn't like this idea when I started reading, but the more I think about it, the more ok I am with it, kind of like a King of the hill kind of thing. I also think it should shuffle everyone who was not a division winner. Would make leagues more fun and change who you play twice each season.

I've argued for breaking up stacked divisions since the start of the game. The answer I always heard was, "get better" or "if you aren't good enough to be top 3 in your division, what makes you think you can win in the playoffs". As much as I hated those answers, it was nice when we did "get better" and beat the teams that stood in front of us.

All that said, as much as I love the rivalries in the game, I'd much rather have a mechanism in place that spreads out the stacked division and gives above average teams who are unlucky when leagues are formed to have a chance.
