New to the game and struggling with playbooks and tactics even after reading the guides? Well if you are a glb2scout subscriber I have put up a base set of tactics and playbooks for each side of the ball to help newcomers with a balanced offense and defense put a competitive game plan while you learn the ropes. This isn't a playbook you can just plug in and forget, you will have to adjust the playbook and tactics to better fit your team as time goes on, find better plays and better tactics %. You can find the tactics and playbooks in the strategy library under USC Newbie Offense and USC Newbie Defense. For those of you who don't have glb2scout but are interested in learning more just check out glb2scout.com

Looks tight, though I find your lack of QB runs disturbing.

I left some big plays out on purpose to help avoid people just plugging it in and never changing it, all the plays are at least solid though.

It is part of GLB2Scout Manager Package. Players have the option to load a playbook or tactics set and share publicly with other Manager level users of GLB2Scout. Once it is live in the library, any Manager level member can view said playbook/tactics and then save privately as their own for future use, or can export into GLB2 directly for use in games.

I uploaded my Rookie Defense Playbook and Tactics to the Strategy Library.

Defensive Playbook: (GLB2Scout) Xars Man D (Base)
Defensive Tactics: (GLB2Scout) Xars Man D Tactics (Base)

Description: Man D with ZEB and OWMB1

Details:
This is a basic, yet effective, defense to run at Rookie and higher tiers. It's an all-Man Defense. It uses Short Pass/Run Plays as the Base D with the Short Pass/Run Blitzes ZEB and OWMB1 on Third and Long 50% of the time.

For Prevent Q2, it uses Long distance plays. For Q4, it uses the standard Short plays w/o Blitzing unless you are Leading > 2TD.

Formations:
4-4 = ZEB: Optimize your 4-4 Man D by putting your fastest Blitzer at the LO spot and your highest Power Tackling LB at RO. Your best Pass Rush DE should be at LDE. This is your Pass Blitz against 2TE and 2WR. CBs should be Cover builds.
4-4 Big: Optimize for 2TE rushing plays. Weakness is Big I QB Rollout Strong. Your FS should be pumping Sprinting.
3-4 = Sky Man Under: Optimize 3-4 for your Q2 Prevent play, this keeps WRs in front of you and keeps your D back for those Outside/Counter runs. CBs are Cover builds.
4-3 = Cover 1 Man Under & QB Spy 1: Optimize this as a 4man DLine for Run Stuffing with a Pure Run DE at LDE. Your RO needs to be fast. Cover 1 is a little better against the 2WR Strong Side runs with QB Spy better against the QB Rollout Weak from 2WR. The CBs should be Combo/Run builds to defend against 2WR Runs. Weakness is 2WR WR Screens.
Nickel = Cover 1 (LB) Robbers: Optimize this 4-2 as your Run Defense to stop 3WR Inside Runs. CBs should be Cover builds.
Nickel 3-3-5 = OWMB1: Optimize this by putting your fastest LB Blitzer at RO and Run Stuffing LBs at MLB with your Cover LB at LO. Your best Pass Rush DE should be at LDE to pinch the QB in between the RO-LDE. NT and RDE can be Run D builds. Cover CBs.
Dime = Cover 1 Lurk: Optimize this as a Run Stuff D with your best Run D LB at MLB. The SS Lurk helps shut down those Inside runs from 4WR. Cover CBs at CB1/CB2 and Combo CBs at CB3/CB4.
Dime 3-2-6 = Man Base: Optimize this by putting your Combo/Run CB at CB4 (Primary) and CB3 (Secondary). The CB3 Combo will help against those 2TE/Big I runs. If your Opponent doesn't run out of 2TE, then CB3 should be a Cover build to help against WR3 in 3WR Passing. The CB4 Combo is what you need to stop the QB Rollout spam from 3WR. This is a Combo/Pass-orientated formation in other spots.
Quarter: Not used, but you can add it. You can only choose among the "Short" plays though. Medium plays won't get called. It can help vs. 3WR if you don't use the Nickel alignments for Inside Runs because you are worried about the Pass. The weakness is that vs. TRIPS, Quarter pulls the CB4&CB5 inside the SS giving up all Outside contain like you have with Dime 3-2-6.

Helpful Tips:
When customizing this Defense, simply copy it and then edit the "(Base)" to something like "(vs. Team#-TeamName)". This will help with organization once you start having multiple D playbooks during the season.

If you want different Prevent plays, add other Long plays (or swap out). If you don't want to use the Long plays, change the Tactics matrix to Pass Short 100 and Long 0. Or you can simply delete the Long plays and the system will choose from your Short plays.

If a team is pure run or pass from a formation, then simply delete the D play you don't want to use.

The CB Combo builds are important in Rookie. They should hit their max BRB (for their final build - it doesn't have to be at the cap) as fast as possible and then pump Man Awareness (while moving up Conditioning).
