Forum > Suggestions > Idea for off-field mechanic - Team/Stadium/City Traits
Link

So, i'm always thinking how could we implement more "off-field" mechanics, without it being too complicated. As much as i love stadium building, finances, and related things, its too complicated, it would mess up the salary cap, etc.

So here is what i thought: team/stadium/city traits, the owner can choose one trait that would work only when playing home, each tier the team gains an extra trait pont.

My doubt is, if these traits should benefit the team, being pretty much a real home field advantage, or if it should be neutral.

This is what it would look like:

-Neutral:

a) Loud stadium: +5s snap time for all plays.
b) Closed dome: Immunity to rain, snow and strong winds.
c) City: Choose the climate of your team region, 50% of the home games will be played on the choosen climate.
d) Stadium cooling/heating technology: Imumnity to low and high temperatures.
e) Hostile fans/rivalry: Both teams gain bonus to toughtness and intimidation.
f) High media coverage: Both teams gain bonus to morale.
g) Open/Closed trainings sessions: Both teams have bonus/penalty to awareness.

-Non neutral:

a)Loud fans: Penalty to adversary Offense consistency skill.
b)D #: Boost to team defense morale and intimidation on 3rd/4th down.
c)Cheering fans: Great morale boost when team makes: TD, sack, fumble, int, +30 yard plays.
d)Water boy: Bonus to team conditioning or stamina recovery(don't know how it works exactly).
e)Supportive fans: Bonus to heart/morale.
f)Hostile city: Penalty to adversary team conditioning (home fans didn't let the adversaty sleep on their hotel.

*g)Soft referee: Adversary 3rd and 4th down conversion: If the team gains the exactly needed amout of yards to convert, the referee will place the ball on 4th and inchess or call the turnover. Exemple: 3rd and 10, the WR catches for a 10 yard gain, the referee wont give the first down, it will be 4th and inchess (Probably too op right? Kappa).

*Maybe neutral and non neutral could both be implemented, as traits/team skills. I don't know...

What you guys think? These are just some exemples, the important thing is the idea itself.

This is the one I would really like. Would give team's a real home field advantage, and also make playoff seeding important.
