Forum > Suggestions > End Rookie and Make Career Boosts cheaper

I know this gets suggested often, but I'm suggesting it again anyways.

Get rid of Rookie, start teams at Soph level, then make the Career Boosts the same cost equivalent of buying the 2 SP boosts for going up a tier like you do before hitting Vet. That would entirely be fair, we would get our full 4 seasons at Vet and you would still make money. Also, it would make getting into Vet a bit faster and get rid of the randomness of Rookie that few enjoy. You can even rename the tiers to Freshman, Soph, Junior, Senior, and Pro respectively or what have you.

Managing the limited rookie salary cap is always a pain as well

No and no...Rookie is just a name and a starting point of the game....I would much rather them extending the length of career boosts and or adding a few more seasons of Vet

Structurally, it's probably too hard to get rid of a tier - in terms of coding time - for the benefit that it might provide. (Though I myself have suggested the same thing.)

Career Boosts are an easy fix. Just double the games from 15 to 30.

As I said in a previous post, there is no way that WG priced Career Boosts exactly correct while the game was in Beta versus the economics they have today with their customers. ZERO. Absolutely ZERO chance. Business doesn't work that way. Successful businesses are *constantly* testing pricing with their customers. Why do you think there are coupons included in the Sunday paper (that no one gets anymore )? Businesses worth $100 Billion dollars plus test pricing every week. The fact that WG has never tested pricing at all in GLB2 is utterly astounding to me. Running a Black Friday special on FLEX isn't how you test pricing.

So, it's something they can, and should, experiment with. Run a special. See what the response is.

Plenty of Vet dots aren't buying Career Boosts and plenty of people leave the game. How those things are correlated is due to a myriad of issues. The only way to figure out the best way to deal with all of it is to experiment.

To WG: Experiment with pricing specials and see how you can increase customer satisfaction and improve the economics of your business.

I'm amazed they haven't tried this/anything yet.

Xars, coupons aren't price testing. They are promotions.

In some ways it is. I know where I work they'll have "sales" which is basically see how people react to a certain price.

I guess the point im making is why cant it be both?

Agree. Let's change up the prices for Vet and see what we get!

There is plenty of literature on the subject that answers your questions.

When I first started this game I seem to recall you had the option of starting at Soph level, if so how would it be difficult to just make that option permanently?
