Likely adding a S* scatback next season to my rookie team. Should work well with mobile QBs who like to dump off

how's your scat back going so far in rook?

He's in sophmore, but I haven't unveiled HB pass plays yet, still need to scrimmage more.

Nice! I wish HB screens always worked like that.

The screens can work on elusive HB's too. I ran more of them in journeyman but ended up just running one of them last season in pro.

Season 17
I HB Screen Left, ran it 78 times, 11.4 YPA, 14.4 YPC
Those numbers also include a 13.2% drop rate, so they could look better with more hands.

Season 16
I HB Screen Left, ran it 40 times, 12.7 YPA, 17.6 YPC
I HB Screen Right, ran it 27 times, 8.3 YPA, 12.4 YPC
SB Trip Screen Strong, ran it 18 times, 5.5 YPA, 19.8 YPC, 50% sack rate.
These numbers also include a 22.3% drop rate.

Too many of the screens have a high sack rate. I feel that I HB screen left is clearly the best and I HB Screen right is decent as well. Are there any hidden gems out there?

I chose to do a elusive HB scatback (Dung Attack - http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/216237) to diversify the number of pass plays he could be part of thinking that elusive back could be used downfield more. I will give reports on the results as season develops.

Just ran 7 different scrims against 7 different teams testing all 18 of the HB screens. Here are the results:

I HB Screen left, used 25 times, 40% big play, 14.3 YPA, 19.8 YPC, 8% sack rate
Big I HB Screen left, used 22 times, 18% big play, 9.0 YA, 14.1 YPC, 18% sack rate
I HB Screen Right, used 27 times, 25% big play, 6.6 YPA, 10.5 YPC, 22% sack rate
WI HB Screen Strong, used 26 times, 19% big play, 5.9 YPA, 10.9 YPC, 23% sack rate
SG HB Screen Weak, used 29 times, 21% big play, 5.7 YPA, 12.8 YPC, 10.3 sack rate
SB TRIP HB Screen Strong, used 13 times, 15% big play, 5.7 YPA, 12.3 YPC, 39% sack rate
SB TRIP HB Screen Weak, used 27 times, 22% big play, 5.7 YPA, 11.9 YPC, 11.1% sack rate
SB HB Screen Weak, used 17 times, 24% big play, 5.3 YPA, 6.9 YPC, 18% sack rate

The rest of the plays were under 5 yards per attempt. I ran a bunch of scrims back in seasoned as well and came to the same conclusion back then. I HB screen left is the best screen for HB's and nothing else is close. The best way to improve a lot of the other screens is to adjust them in whatever way will result in taking less sacks. After all, aren't screens supposed to beat the blitz?

Can an all run O-line hold blocks long enough to get the pass off?

That would just make it worse. Check out the spin cycles: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/321561/452812

I still can not figure out which play targets the scatback fullback. Those receiver plays where the fb is primary look yields no throws to him. even 2nd look. I am even tryig to set up weak players in wr positions so inevitably he wil look at FB down his progressions. Anyone having success with targeting FB on pass plays and I do not mean screens

FB plays where he gets at least 4 or more yards

a game where the fb can get 10 or more targets per game

suggestions please
