Is this even worth the +5 bonus to the Elusive Running skill? In my mind I picture them running towards the sideline like this when getting near a defender.

On second thought it works well when rushing up the middle but tosses, sweeps, and reverses they run out of bounds.

Depends. They take a wider berth around blockers, this can be a good thing if you need time for the Guard/Fullback/whoever to get there and reach the defender.

If you're curious, this guy is on Elusive:

And these two are on Slippery:

Slow Poke used to be on Combo, but it's pathing was a little worse than Elusive.

Not always. I've run 2 PUP tests on elusive, and they would also lead a defender to the side line, then cut back inside to get past him. Juke was particularly effective in these situations. Could go either way and I wouldn't let that turn you off.

My general rule of thumb is that players are dumb. if they have less than 60 agility they will look dumb near the sidelines because of trying to do cute cuts and shit to throw off defenders and their legs can't pay off the bills.

Elusive works best when agility is even with sprinting, but that's never gonna happen on a normal build, so I only use it if agility is over 50, 60 if sprinting is over 80 already.

Good question. I put Barry on slippery in rookie and have left it the same ever since. I feared going elusive because I didn't want him stepping out of bounds and avoiding defenders too often. With that said, I would love to see some examples of elusive being successful because I might try it.

I'm working on an elusive PUP HB with high footwork... Not sure how much merit it will hold but it's worth a shot.

I did that already. The footwork doesn't do anything. Only take it if you want to use Spin.

jimbo was always on elusive.

extra 5 points can equal 10000 skill points
plus - when the HB steps out of bounds rather than getting tackled (annoying when short of the 1st down) - he doesn't get tackled, doesn't risk a fumble, doesn't take a morale hit, doesn't get a toughness/intimidation roll, etc.

worth it imo.

You guys also ran inside a lot more often. Elusive running inside seems surprisingly good.

before this craziness with outside running with speed backs I actually had my power running backs going outside and the elusive backs going up the middle. It worked way more effectively that way because the power back had to break less tackles on the outside (easier to do) and the elusive was better at breaking tackles w/out contact (better for piles in the middle)

Yeah, plus surge and juke and/or spin are pretty nice SAs for inside running.
