I want to change my halfback from a pickup player to a regular player. Can I do that or he's stuck like that forever

Yes - he is stuck like that forever.
Can make a regular player and level him up like normal -- 2 games every 3 days

A pickup player is just to test builds and/or to earn your superstar players by advancing your pickup player through rookie to vet, or stop and start over at your choosing. You can't change from pickup to a regular player.

Do you get additional superstar points when you boost a pick up player or only when you complete a tier?
