I think those of us who still like the game should just accept it for what it is and keep playing until it dies or something better comes along. It's the life cycle of an MMO.

Something like "fixed some inverted formulas that were introduced with the latest update" would have been all it took to sooth the tens of people left.

Seriously. Ten words. That's all.

Edit: And by the way it clearly wasn't fixed.

yeah have to agree, if it was fixed, would have taken one sentence to relay it to us. if it wasn't fixed (which looks to be the case) games are starting this am with an "inverted formula" sim lol

I don't think that requires a changelog update.

Bort still hasn't woke up obviously

IMO, this season needs to be FIXED AND RESET.

I'm done if this stays as is.

Or just say that it is working as intended. Maybe this is what was expected. DL brought up compelling arguments in the other thread. You ran the same TE Drives he did - and got shut down.

MEM shut down LogZilla's O pretty hard as well.

I'm not saying that it is or is not broken. But I don't think the evidence that the sim is not working is particularly compelling. I'm more just upset that the fix was never communicated.

I've got no horse in this particular argument, but if we're talking about this game:
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/game/229474

Then that's not quite true.

BSB only ran TE Drive 6 times. They mostly ran the TE plays with quicker over the middle routes, and their Tight End's combined for a 69.2% catch rate.

SG WR Hook - 23 times
SB TE Post - 18 times
I Double back out and up - 15 times
BI TE Crosses - 12 times

While Hostile Takeover ran the TE Drives a combined 31 times.

This is far too early to tell, but judging from the few games I checked (Salty vs HAHA, EEA vs Bloody, and this one) that middle breaking TE routes are going to be really hard to defend this season.

HAHA's spread offense is likely complete toast this season. There are no versions of the TE routes in the playbook, there are almost no shorter breaking routes, most of the routes are probably considered "down the field" and are getting penalties. Unless Corndog/Bort decided to add to the 4WR playbook, we're screwed.

That is the game Aeir was referring to and no BSB does not spam TE drive like crazy. At least not currently. Game plans can vary. I get why Aeir is frustrated but it is not like BSB has ever been a bad team. Since rookie ball the team is 146-14. They have benefited from easier schedules here and there but 14 losses since rookie ball and Skippy our QB has been the HOF offensive leader for the tier every season. I am personally fine with everybody overlooking the team though. Hopefully we can make a bit of noise. Not sure where the season will lead BSB but I would imagine we still land top 10 at least. We have had some players that have been replaced over the seasons so not all initial builds are on the team but I feel like we still have solid players and some solid coordinating going on. Time will tell...

may or may not shed more light and make more data available (imperfect I know) tomorrow when Stobie's play analyzer will have scraped all of today's games.

I never said BSB was a bad team. In fact quite the opposite, I even acknowledged you guys were a good team in the other thread. I knew it would be a hard faught game to win, and I'm fine with losing if we just get beat...

My Beers are an all passing team, (4WR like HAHA is) and they lost, and I have absolutely no issues with it because at least the game looked real. No team had 95+ passes, or gained 800 yards...or had 9 turnovers, or missed 5 FGs... it just looked like real football.

I know stats won't be the same, I get that, I'm not an idiot. But at least make it look real FFS. Oh amd some people like defensive games. Personally I'm one of them.

Yep.

I came here, looked around, saw how far better this game was designed relative to GLB1, and decided I wanted to play.

Now I sadly see that the devs seem content to see it fade away through neglect-- which is awful, because it's so well designed. They saw where GLB1 went wrong, with slow building basically required, abilities very unbalanced, etc., and fixed the key problems in this version. There have been good ideas posted about giving new players stuff to do upon sign-up and all...and if they don't want to get ambitious as that, they can at least communicate/improve the sim/fix bugs to work on retention.

I'd actually be very satisfied right now if CDog (who seems to be the one to do what communicating there is) simply clearly stated that it was still important to him and Bort that GLB2 at least stabilizes in number, and that they'd like to see it grow at least back to where it was several seasons ago. That's a very conservative estimate of the potential audience, because there were that many teams, and players to fill them, so we know that level of support is possible.

All the people involved in designing this game did a very good and difficult job of balancing the costs of abilities, etc., to make the choices as non-obvious as possible. They aren't 100% perfectly balanced, as that would be impossible. But a lot of effort had to be put in to get them as close to balanced as they are.

You guys have a great game design here, and some people had to put in a lot of effort to make it so! Please, work on the needed tweaks and fixes to make it all as it can be...and while sim improvements/bug fixes won't make new players stick around to see their players play, those who do stick around a bit will like it that much more, and the game also won't suffer as much attrition of established players. And ideally, use some of the suggestions to give new players more to do when they sign up, and then the game could actually...grow-- maybe not become huge, but grow some.

I hear you and I am not saying that I do not like defensive games by any means. In fact a few seasons back I was proposing plenty of defensive buffs since the strain on SP for player builds is crazy on defense having to contain monster run games, pass games and everything between as well as potentially having some players play zone on certain plays and everything else but generally speaking the majority of people want to see big plays and they want to see points on the board. With a dwindling user base maybe the plan is to allow more scoring? I don't know. I know that you said BSB was a good team but BSB has been better than that since their birth. We took a little dip last season while adjusting to some of the changes made (DB reaction times) but BSB is capable of putting up great passing days. Maybe we won more rolls in this one. The game was also a bit closer until the 4th quarter. Our defense regularly stalled your drives or limited them to FGs while our offense continued to score. That has a big impact on the performance of both the offense and defense IMO as they both fuel each other. If your offense would have been able to score on a few drives in the 1st half then this could have been a completely different ball game. I am not gloating and have great respect for you Aeir and I know that Hostile is a good squad. I watched the game with a renewed sense of excitement as it is a long journey for a team to get to Vet obviously and this was BSBs first Vet game. I was thrilled with how the game went for our first game at the top tier. You guys will get a shot at redemption later in the season and that game could easily be the complete opposite of this one and maybe Hostile throws up nearly 700 yards or more. The rolls were on BSBs side in this one and I am going to happily take the result!

Bottom line. Look at the time of possession in the game. BSB had the ball for a little over 36 minutes while Hostile had it for a little over 23 minutes. If a pure passing team has the ball for that kind of time when the clock is stopping for each incompletion it is going to Have a ton of pass attempts. Not sure what to tell you. This game just went our way.
