Who's ready for some passing buffs?

Decided to move my own response here as I don't want to blow up the Quick Scrim thread with unrelated talk.

Only thing that I wish for is even ground with rushing and passing attacks. Once they are about equal in performance good or bad it would be nice to have a greater of selection of plays that work in the rock, paper, scissors match ups. It would be nice to have more plays that counter offensive and defensive plays successfully but may be weak against other offensive/defensive plays. Basically asking that the same plays do not remain the most effective no matter what defenses you see. Not sure how far down the road this may be or if it will ever come but it is what I believe many of us hope for as opposed to running the same spam plays. Allow us to run different plays and if they are run against the proper offensive or defensive plays then let our hard work coordinating pay off while creating more diverse play books across the board whether you are pure pass, pure run, balanced or you have your defensive built for whatever formation. Once we have that system established then hopefully we can add viable plays out of formations that need some better plays. Generic buffs/nerfs to passing/running offense/defense only continue to funnel offenses and defenses in to more of a spam fest. IMO we need to find a way to kill the spam or at least limit it and do so in a way that will make GLB what many of us keep hanging on hoping it will become!

my hope list in no particular order

- improve D logic to improve D vs counters
- when a straight line, blitzers are more committed to their blitz path
- longer passes slightly harder to catch
- shorter passes with a tweak to be easier to catch (+ catching / + balance) (but not necessarily on screens)
- some kind of more significant catching penalty depending on how many defenders are in the immediate area (see TE Crosses)

I'll start by saying this, the increase in play recognition is what shut down Screens this season and opened Counters up. I don't know this for a fact, but I'm fairly certain that's what it was. Saying that, here is my list:

-Reduce play recognition slightly, this should reduce Counters effectiveness and increase the effectiveness of screens from this past season

-Greatly increase the catch rate of short passes. You shouldn't need 85 Receiving Hands to catch a 5 yard pass. Hell, I can catch that 95% of the time assuming I was faster than my current 5.4 speed.

-Remove the double move bug on most routes, it eliminates over half the play book - http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/166822/3330357 - WR2

-decrease in catching per defender, 2 defenders around twice as likely not to catch, 3 defenders around 3 times as likely not to catch

-Reduce the amount of "afraidness" of elusive runners, even elusive backs dont run out of bounds just because they see a defender 6 yards away. They get as many yards as possible and only go out of bounds if they need to stop the clock or they already have a first down. Rarely do they run out of bounds in a important situation just to avoid a hit

-Fix Deep Coverage. You are absolutely required to blitz against good teams in rookie because defenders never turn around. Somehow WRs have a physic ability that allows them to stop sometimes as soon as the QB releases the ball. Defenders even with very high awareness a lot of the times never even sees the ball.

-Fix Deep Coverage Zone where defenders give WRs a 5 yard cushion and never even attempt to disrupt the pass. I would rather see my guys give up long passes occasionally than to give up 10 x 20 yard catches a game because of this cushion.

-Steve is smoking crack, Screen passes should be the easiest passes to catch there is. Even RBs with poor hands often are used in Screen Plays. See Derrick Henry for Alabama.

Was mostly not wanting to super power screens- that was only reason I mentioned it - didn't want to remove tha balance requirement

id love to see everything para said but id like to see hb screens worked on as well. like para said screen catch requirements should be low but the timing or the blocking on the hb screens need work. It takes way too long for hb screens to develop. Screens are suppose to be quick passes but the timing on hb screens takes so long they rarely work as they should.

Yes please, I would love to use HB screens. Plus you would start seeing more receiving skills on HBs.
