The thing about the tool tips is a physicist would describe acceleration as a change in direction.

Also, running at full speed is not acceleration. It's what happens when you stop accelerating.

Exactly. And starting from a stop to running is changing direction.

To further GE's point - when you think about it - every single step during a sprint each leg changes direction multiple times. First the left leg goes forward....but then it moves backward as the right leg is moving forward and then the right leg begins to move backward as the left leg moves forward.

It doesn't stop there though. The arms also change directions multiple times per step. The right arm (and I'm not even mentioning the hand and wrist and fingers which would probably make this post way too long) moves forward as the left arm moves backward....then the right arm moves backward and the left arm moves forward.

Same thing with feet, toes, shoulders and hips to some degree.

Holy change of direction, Batman! Feel like I'm back in 8th grade geometry and I've just proven that quickness has a dramatic impact on sprint speed.

I knew this stocky/built kid back in high school and the only way he could sprint it was by pushing off left and right. It looked like he was ice skating but without the ice or skates.

I don't know what this thread is about but the above post reminded me of this.

any high footwork WRs or TEs out there?

If Corndog says it, it probably is just a trick to make us build higher footwork HB's. You know, like balance is the reason why CB's couldn't keep with WR's.

Well if it is properly QA'd, you can find the bugs. Oh wait...

Exactly, if we made a QA team we'd have nothing to QA.

Even if you're joking, this is kind of what I was thinking. Every once in a while, you see players strain to make sharper turns beyond a certain radius of their frontal view. Good point. Beyond a certain radius, some players orient around more quickly.
