So the last three games for the Senior league have been crazy, causing me to look at my predictions anew. I'm writing this quickly, so hopefully I don't miss anything!
Alpha Divison:
The Alpha Division might be the toughest division of all, with the Hartford Walkers being dominant in the early run. The Walkers only look to get stronger after adding a S* QB to an already stacked team. The Retirees look every bit the playoff contender, losing a heartbreaker to the Walkers by one score. That loss could be the difference between a division title and the wild card. The Dinosaurs are much stronger than their record, but will have to play extremely well against the rest of the league to have a hope for the playoffs. Leeds looks to be out of the picture; 3 losses against this group means they will have to win out to even have a chance at the playoffs. Their best hope is to play spoiler.
Predictions: Walkers take the divison, Retirees take the wild card
Beta Division:
It is far too early to tell who is going to win out of this group. All teams are fairly well matched, and though 2 teams are a game back that could all change in interdivision play. The Grandpas might be a dark horse; they have the talent to challenge in the entire league. The Rollers need to cut down on their HB situation to have a realistic chance at winning anything; their HBs are terrible except the one with the fewest carries. The Slugs have ridden an early surge, but I predict they will not be able to hold that edge through the rest of the season. Saskatoon looks to be following up a great season with a dismal one. They need to perform much better to have a chance of the playoffs
Prediction: Grandpas make the playoffs
Gamma Division:
t
Although the Lindy Hoppers are a surprise team, they look to have the horses to make the playoffs. Eugene has a legitimate chance to catch them with a solid rushing attack, but they have ground to make up. The Naps probably can't make a run, but anything is possible in Senior League. The Wrinkles might as well fold (get it?) now, because with 3 losses they don't have what it takes to catch up to the powerhouse that is New York.
Prediction: New York makes the playoffs.
Next Game Predictions:
New York vs. Hartford: Battle of the Undefeateds; Hartford wins 31-21
Eugene vs. Phoenix: Phoenix shows their class to win 24-6
Saskatoon vs Leeds: Leeds enjoys not playing an Alpha team, wins 27-18
Lousville vs. Cincinnati: Will the Rollers play with their best players? Probably not. Dinosaurs win 30-13
Houston vs. Washington: The best of Beta vs. the worst of Gamma, but I'm calling the surprise upset. Washington wins 17-14
Jacksonville vs. Nashville: The Grandpas show off their offensive firepower and win a shootout 38-27
