I can always rely on Stobies Rankings to be more accurate than the ladder... records don't mean everything. Logzilla has had a much better season record-wise than us this season, but even Xars will probably tell you, tomorrows game is a toss-up. Madison has won the last 3 matchups, and the one before that was a one-point game.

After a weird year with some wacky games against inferior teams (no offense SAG), Madison is still shooting for top-5 this season... You'd be making a mistake thinking MeM is going to run away with the Hydrogen championship... Whoville can beat anyone on their good days, Madison won last year and beat WhoVille and DA this season, and DA is still a great team.

LZ-Madison is a toss up.

Are the Dynasty rankings accurate? Then again does anyone care? I don't and doubt most others do.

I think the Top 10 is more about matchups than this team is better than that team. Overall, it's probably much more competitive than past seasons.

Dynasty rankings work exactly like the ladder before the seasonal resets.

I recall diddy being hugely against seasonal resets, so I'd guess he is a big dynasty fan.

diddy's dynasty ranking is about all hburg has left...so ya - expect a post from him any day explaining how dynasty rankings are really the only rankings that count.

Thank you.

So since it's been a few (2?) seasons of resets, we can now see the difference in Seasonal/Dynasty Ladder rankings.

With Bronx and Central new to Vet the old method has them at #6 and #7 versus #3 and #1. DA would be #2 (old method) vs. #13 with resets. Madison at #3 instead of #10. Though both of them (and others) could make an argument that Chemistry has hampered them.

All in all, resets are a very good thing. Legacy was counting too much.

Then again, if LZ gets #1 on Dynasty I'll expect a nice Gold Ladder trophy.

(No I won't. Just kidding.)

The divergence is too apparent at this point for anyone to think that. I hope.

I still think resets are dumb, and old vet teams should NEVER have to play new vet teams (with full chem) at the beginning of the season...

If I'm stuck with this crap dynasty ladder thing, I might as well pay attention to it end of season. WTF said that's all I care about? don't put f'n words in my mouth. Don't be sour about Vet TXSteve just because most people forgot you had a relevant vet team seasons ago and no longer.

diddy dropping f'n bombs up in here.

nah - I don't care about the old team. Didn't even keep it! Didn't care about the trophies.

I agree one of us does sound pretty sour....but I don't think it is me.

I think he's just in a bad mood because of today's game. Beating LZ today would have really helped him.

I know I paid homage to the coin-flip idea, but I've really liked my Pass D upgrades this season and thought we'd have a good chance at the win.

But I thought I'd beat MeM and Whoville this season with better Balanced D and I didn't. And I'm glad no one has really looked/commented on that CF Disaster.

GG Central. (I owe Spastic that....)

Thanks for not rubbing my face in it. It was rather embarrassing. Taken me a few days (OK, a week+) to recover from that butt kicking.

another classic example of chem dictating the outcome of a game. hburg still has 20 players who haven't hit full chem yet.

I find them interesting, but I would prefer if they looked back to all seasons in a better way. Would like to see teams that no longer exist on there.

I posted a suggestion to rerun all previous games through the current ladder formula (ELO exchange has been tweaked quite a lot since the beginning), including seasonal resets.

Than have the dynasty ladder based on average ELO.

Basically, formerly dominant but dead teams would still be there, but longevity would still be rewarded as well because average ELO would give you more Vet seasons to bring up your average and basically dilute the earlier tiers where you can't possibly finish with as much raw ELO as you can in Vet.

I think it would give you a feel for the best "dynasties" over the history of the game. Would also need to be accompanied by a historical ladder for each season where you can see the single season ladders from season's past (this would not be rerun through the current logic, preserving the logic at the time and who actually won the trophies).

they probably didn't save the data.

Even something simple like "# of days at #1" ranking list would be interesting.

Could also include "# of days in the top 10" / Top 25

Crap like that. If they'd saved all the data it would be fun but I bet they didn't. Stobie's data only goes back a few seasons but it is better than nothing.

I think you are right. I just went to one of my S2 players and his game log says "This player hasn't played a game yet." despite still having a stat line for S2 with 30 GP.
