I have a receiver who has been pretty decent (was the league offensive MVP last season and led the league in TDs and receiving yards). However, I am noticing this season that every time he catches the ball, he just falls down. He never has YAC, even if he seems to be wide open and looks like he's making the catch in stride.

Is there a skill I've neglected that would be causing this to happen? Is there any way to fix it, or is that just how the game goes?

Balance will help allow your receiver to remain upright after making a catch but there is a price as this may often expose them to KLs. I would recommend raising receiving grip to a decent level before raising balance if you wish to go that route.

What is a "decent level?" He's at 40 Receiving Grip right now. Is that enough?

It would really depend on what routes he is running and who is tackling him. Many SS and some SS have higher power hitting and will get KLs every so often. There are not many CBs however that have high power tackling currently so WRs are going to be less susceptible to KLs when being tackled by your average coverage CBs. 40 is not bad but if you are going to crank on balance I would suggest raising grip at least to 50/60 if possible. You will still have KLs but minimizing that before cranking on balance is pretty important at least when I am going that route.
