I think it's reasonable to believe that if the HB is having to dive to catch the ball behind the LOS he would think to drop it if there are defenders 2-5 yards away from him.

Should be part of the awareness check, tbh. I imagine the logic would be fairly complex to get "just right" but I think it would greatly imrpove realism.

Realism would be players not constantly falling after catches. But that would require some better defensive logic on screen plays or screens would be the new meta. Especially hb ones.

I don't see why we just dont do both, raise the floor of falling down after catches and make screens smarter. At the same time make the reaction to screens more intelligent.

Same time make passing deep with loft passes more intelligent and adjust corners technique in coverage. You could make the correct technique based on coverage teq.
