What I mean by that is is there a difference between having high awareness and low awareness when all defenders seem to have set paths and reaction times anyway? I've always wondered this, but this play happened today

3 defenders, all with varying degrees of Man awareness ranging from the low 73 to 98, all react to a pass play at the same time, react to the ball at the same time, turn and run at the same time and take the exact same path to the ball and then to the ball carrier. Not the first time I've seen a couple defenders react the same way, but I've never seen 3 on 1. Almost the same with screen passes, no matter the awareness it seems that defenders always do the same thing.
Why bump up awareness if defenders are just on preset rails?
