Is this something we can ignore? Or if not, what is considered standard in the end-game?

Depends on what type of CB he is. Run stopping CBs need balance or they will get thrown down when making a tackle or pancaked when engaging in a block.

And pure cover CBs are the opposite in that they need almost no Balance.

maybe I'm wrong - but back in the pass defense debacle of season 3 or 4 (different than the current one!) - I believe that Corndog said when a Cb was switching from backpedalling to running - that spin required a balance check -- and that was why some guys were getting absolutely lost in space.

I think you are correct. That is why my zone CBs are zooming all over the field.

I was under the impression that balance helped greatly with interceptions/jumping/diving as well. Probably deflecting too.

I mean you see the Prime Time SA for receivers. While jumping or diving they'll ignore balance checks. Seems like balance applies whenever the ball gets close to the player.

I've always thought it was useful in the tackling roll as well. Less suddenly trucked type failed tackles, maybe helps with getting drags instead?

I either forget or never knew that. I remember looking up elite pass coverage CBs and seeing no balance on them, but that could have been before Cdog's pass coverage changes after S4(?).

I'ts assumed it plays a small role in either breaking or turning at high speed. Footwork also seems to be a culprit in turning sharply at speed.
