1. Hawaii Bulls vs 11. Erkner Razorbacks
- Erkner's managed to hang on to generally the same spot in the rankings they've always had between 8-12, despite the significant shakeup in the top 10 this season. That said, Hawaii's ranked #1 for a reason. Give me da Bulls.
2. New Jersey Generals vs 22. Pauline Goat Ranchers
- NJ has played better than any of the other Season 1 teams this season. They've rightfully maintained their top flight status through excellent gameplanning with solid builds. Pauline isn't likely to overcome them. NJ wins comfortably.
3. Portland Ronin vs 8. Tampa Piranhas
- Portland's also been able to maintain a fairly high level of performance despite a few significant losses to the top flight newcomers. Tampa has struggled considerably more this season. They're at risk of falling out of the top 10 by season's end, though they may return at the start of next season due to attrition if they're not folding themselves. I expect Portland to win.
4. Dead at Season's End vs 21. Ministry of Dotball
- Romo might as well be afk at this point. The Ministry is capable of good gameplans, but the ladder has been unkind of late, and they're losing to some modest competition. I expect Romo's builds will wreck them, especially since I know Ministry has some pass defense investment that won't heavily factor into this matchup.
5. Air Raid vs 12. Glasgow Rangers
- OOOOOOOH YEAH! Glasgow does not get to escape into the folding wilderness before Air Raid gets to net our first win over them ever. Glasgow consistently gave us hell all the way up the ranks in a precious few matchups. Will ending on a high note matter enough for thier staff to attempt to gameplan? Leave in style? I don't care. I want my team to destroy Glasgow to establish that we've been able to handle all of the Season 2 contenders. Give me Air Raid! Get this out of the way, and then we'll work on diagnosing our apparent Kryptonite over at Cobra Kai.
6. Brisbane Bogans vs 23. Rocky Mountain Reapers
- Thunderoo has gone inactive, but I expect they'll still be able to beat Rocky Mountain. Teams are ranked where they are for a reason.
7. The Salty Runback vs 24. Andes Chinchillas
- Andes is steadily climbing the ladder, and I expect they belong in the top 20 for sure. That said, Salty is a dreadful matchup for them. Andes has balance, but Salty will absolutely take away their running game. Probably not a blowout, but I don't know that Andes will push Salty too much. Give me Salty.
9. Harrisonburg Bulldogs vs 28. Northwest Storms
- Northwest isn't likely to give Tdiddy and company too much trouble. Bulldogs get a bit of a breather this week. I'm going with Harry.
GAME OF THE WEEK
10. Minnesota Stunners vs 16. Cobra Kai
- This is a fun one! Cobra's arguably playing top 5 caliber ball right now. They've beaten Air Raid twice, lost to Hawaii twice, and other losses are to Portland and Andes. Generally, they've been very good. Minnesota's only setback this season came at the hands of Hawaii, and are very close to acquiring their endgame builds. Cobra's done less screening recently and more normal passing in an attempt to keep opponents off balance. So TxSteve's got his work cut out for him trying to diagnose what they're likely to attempt against him. Cobra's got the unfortunate task of stopping either the best or second best rushing attack in the game, which evidence by losses to Portland and Hawaii, presents a problem. I'm picking the Stunners here because I think they're likely to be the best team in the game next season, and aren't that far off now. That said, passing offenses have given their defense grief in the past, they've just simply been able to outscore it with thier own rushing attack. This could be a very high scoring affair.
